Jim Mac Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I have the 12' Frontier, and I really like it. I bought it last spring. The best thing about it is the versatility. It uses a track system for 1 or 2 seats and accessories. You can use ANY boat seat, and swivel 360 degrees. Has a square transom for a trolling motor, or up to a 2.5 hp gas motor. I use a 40 lb. thrust trolling motor sometimes, depending on the size of the lake, and it works great. CONS: Don't believe all the hype about it being the most stable kayak out there. It is not. It takes a while to get used to the tippyness. This is due to the higher center of gravity when using the rigid seat base. With the standard rigid seat base, the top of my seat is 13" above the floor. I just received the new "Low" rigid seat base, which is 2" lower, which should make it less tippy. You can also use a standard kayak seat, and have a much lower seating position if you want. 1 Quote
boostr Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 I'm considering the Feel Free Lure 11.5, but then I saw this at the Expo.... Now I'm torn. I like the facts it's motor ready, how does it paddle and track, do you feel comfortable standing in it? Quote
Jim Mac Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 The Lure 11.5 was my second choice, but the closest dealer was at least 5 hours away, so I passed. It tracks very well, but it's a slow to average paddle. It's 41" wide !! I didn't buy it to speed around. I bought it to fish. I feel comfortable standing in it for a short time to stretch my back, but not to fish. Quote
boostr Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Nice write up FT. The info I was looking for. Hmm I'm gonna have to try and test both out, and that will probably make my decision. Quote

That's always the best way to decide. When you test the Frontier though, make sure it has the same seating position(height) that you will use if you buy it. I brought my swivel boat seat and attached it to the seat base of the Frontier when I got to the dealer. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted March 12, 2015 Super User Posted March 12, 2015 Thanks frog! I've been itching to get one but not many reviews on its stability while fishing. Quote
