DaveT63 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Some friends and I are looking at taking a weekend fishing trip in early May to Briery Creek Lake. We went there last June for a weekend but didn't have the best of luck. However, as promising as the place looks, we have the urge to try again. Can anyone provide any insight to fishing the place? Thanks in advance, Dave Quote

Super User Darren. Posted March 10, 2015 Super User Posted March 10, 2015 Haven't fished it yet, but plan to get there some day. Here's something to hold you over until Wayne chimes in. http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing/waterbodies/display.asp?id=21 Quote

grayAG Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Watch where you're going on the lake. Even if you're familiar with the lake, you can still be surprised by some of the trees and stumps. I haven't been able to go in quite a while. Good luck there! Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 23, 2015 Super User Posted March 23, 2015 I fished Briery yesterday. The water temp was in the low to mid-50's and some fish were in less than 5' depths. I did not get on the water until about 10:30. Waited for the air temp to get above the water temp and did some sonar experimenting before fishing. Only caught 18 bass, with one under 2# and the rest between 3# and 5#, First bass thumb of the year. The next few days are going to be cold again, so I would guess all those shallow fish will go back to the creek channels and wait for another warming trend. 1 Quote
