Super User ww2farmer Posted March 9, 2015 Super User Posted March 9, 2015 I am planning on moving my TM batts. before the season starts to a new location in my boat to get some weight out of the back. Have everything I need except the 6ga. wire, anyone have a source for shorter lengths? Every place I have looked local or online wants to sell it in rolls with way more than I need, or at, what seems to me at least stupid price per foot (granger, lowes, home depot, etc...) Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted March 9, 2015 Super User Posted March 9, 2015 Try a local welding supply, some of those carry it in bulk roles and you can get just the length you need. You will find every body wants a stupid price, some just not quite as stupid as others. Here's one on line source. http://www.weldingcable.us/RADAFLEX-6-AWG-Black-Welding-Cable_p_11.html You can search for welding cable, probably find your best price, or you can search for "marine" cable and pay a really stupid price. Some might list it as battery cable. With the marine and battery prefix you can usely find red, using the welding prefix, most will only carry black and you put red tape or heat shrink on each end to mark it. Quote
Team_Dougherty Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Lowes and Home Depot sell wire by the foot. It wil be the thicker stranded wire. A littler harder to bend but ti will work. Try and Auto parts store or a stero install place. They will have the finer standed wire. Or Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-GAUGE-AWG-WIRE-CABLE-20-FT-10-BLACK-10-RED-POWER-GROUND-STRANDED-PRIMARY-/280916816675 Saw you mentioned lowes and others. Copper is not cheap. 1 Quote

curtis9 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Have any of you used jumper cables? I was thinking of picking up a set and cutting off the ends to use for my trolling motor. It's the best price I can find for you ga wire and the positive and negative are connected together so it should be easier to route. 1 Quote
