Best Lower-Mid Range Rain Gear

Last year was a bad year for rain for me. One day I even had a rain "resistant" jacket and it soaked through that coat after an 8 hour tournament. I want to know what's the best with out going out and gore text suit just don't have the change laying around at the moment for it. Let me know what you guys use and like. I might go PVC but I want to be able to move in it and be warm without feeling like I'm going to rip it.

Oh wow I didn't know the guide series had that option. I give gander mountain a lot if crap but I think I might start shopping there again. I just like bass pro to much.

I've looked T frog togs and I don't know just can't seem to believe that material will hold up to some of the rain I was in last year. Like I said I had a jacket and after 8 hours it was like a sponge

I prefer frog togs too, I haven't had any problems with mine leaking, and the pair I have is lightweight for backpacking in Wyoming and the boundary waters.

I have several suits - depending on the weather.  Frog Toggs work good - but they aren't so hot in the early spring when it is cold.  Gore Tex works good - but it isn't so great in the summer when it is hot as well as rainy.  Pick your poison.

 

If you can only get one suit right now, I'd go Frog Toggs.  Get it kind of roomy so that you can wear layers underneath.

 

If you are fishing tournaments - I'd go with a mid-weight gore tex suit.  Think of it this way.  You've already spend x amount of dollars for tournament gear, x amount for travel & lodging, x amount for dues, fees, & licenses, why short yourself on comfort during the hours you're fishing.

 

When you're wet & chilly you don't feel good, you aren't totally focused on fishing, your thoughts are somewhere else at least some of the time.   If you are going to play the tournament game - give yourself an honest chance to compete and don't short yourself on gear.

 

My grand dad, in olden times, referred to that behavior as being penny wise and pound foolish.

Mine have held up for over 2 years. I have used them as both rain and snow pants. Won't be disappointed

Was leaning towards the guide series but I need to look at toggs again I guess. I mean my hunting boots are 1200grain toggs and they're great but the jackets are that weird material and I never thought it would work that great

I have a Frogg  jacket that I bought the year they came out (15 years ago?) Granted, I only wear it when it's hot but it has held up very well. Also, be sure to buy the bibs, so much more comfortable when that cold stream isn't running down the small of your back and lower.

Wow so far it's been almost unanimous for frog. Place near me that renovated has them on a super good sale. Might just go grab a set Thursday. Got a lacrosse PVC triplet vent jacket for $6 for the old lady there few weeks ago. Would have got myself one but they were only in size small
