Super User buzzed bait Posted March 9, 2015 Super User Posted March 9, 2015 Went to a small public lake yesterday in Middle Georgia with a buddy to try and take advantage of the awesome conditions. Full moon, warming temps, very light wind just everything i could ask for. got to the ramp right at daylight and were the first ones on the water. Launched the kayaks and off we went. Fished all around the lake from about 3-30 feet of water and just couldn't buy a bite. I was trying it all: crankbait, bladed jig, drop shot, jig, jerkbait, topwater, underspin w/ fluke. Nothing. My buddy was trying an array of baits as well, nothing. Saw about 5 or 6 other boats out by about 2 oclock when we decided to pack it in. I did have a short swipe at the bladed jig and my buddy had a tap on the plastic worm, but nothing that resembled a committed fish. We were marking a few fish as well, but just not able to force a bite. I'm still looking to catch a fish on a couple new combos i recently acquired so the mission will likely continue this coming weekend as we are supposed to see warmer temps all week! Still kind of dumbfounded as to the zero fish. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 9, 2015 Super User Posted March 9, 2015 I take a ride through Skunkville every so often, sometimes I even end up staying a while. Though not the worst place in world, I'm still not a big fan. Keep at it. A-Jay 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 9, 2015 Global Moderator Posted March 9, 2015 I was there Friday. I had 3 bites and landed zero. I did get a big shad on a trap that looked like he hit the bait. 2 Quote

drew4779 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I tend to have better luck the 4 days leading up to the full moon but not so much the day of and the next few days after. 1 Quote
Bamajoe34 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Sounds about like every trip to the water for me these days. What was your water temp? 1 Quote

Bamajoe34 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Man, that is pretty good temp. I thought maybe you had a cold snap or something. I went out on Guntersville on the 4th which was the day before the full moon and we were fishing 43-47 and we did pretty good. My kid caught one that was close to 6. We were using red cranks sitting in about 25 throwing in 4-8 ticking the grass and stopping. I know you are in GA but you would think the weather impacts would be similar. Quote

Super User buzzed bait Posted March 13, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 13, 2015 What lake? went to varner when i caught the fish and went to lake kedron in peachtree for the skunks. looking to be back on varner with a buddy of mine this weekend. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted March 13, 2015 Super User Posted March 13, 2015 Nice -- it's a decent paddle but try to fish the island on the other side of the bridge. That area was good for me when I fished Kedron a few years back. Some good depth variety back there too Quote

Slefler Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I just recently moved to Skunkville, Texas, if you ever want a tour let me know I don't mind showing you around. Peaceful place due to the lack of action. Quote
BooyahMan Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I'm pretty familiar with your new neighbourhood as I am a frequent tourist there. In fact, I took a trip down there today... 1 Quote

jrstrick Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 hey everyone...i just went out yesterday and got hit with my first skunkville of the year (other than a bowfin.) In the past 4-5 weeks I've been to this water 3 times with the first two having water in the 40-45 degree range and me actually landing a few nice spots and one largemouth. I go back yesterday, thinking the water would've warmed to the mid-50s and been the prespawn bite to really be in gear. Once on the water, I find the temp to be 65-68 depending on the position of the sun/shade-lines. Has anyone else ever had to deal with such a dramatic increase in water temps? It's almost like the bass are confused and haven't had time to get on the beds yet. Any input would be appreciated. Quote
