I want to get a lews speed spool but I'm not sure what rod to get with it, are there any good baitcasting rods for around $50?

The berkley lightning rod shocks $39 at Walmart and the halo starlight series $49 at tackle shops and some walmarts and there website. Are both great rods for the money.

Ditto on the Berkeley Lightning Rod Shock. Light and great action for the money.

Agree with 0119, just picked one up. Designed specifically for braid, this rod is very well made and finished. Not sure about performance just yet as I just got it last week!

The Shimano Sellus is a decent rod for about $50, I had the 6'8" mh/f and was quite impressed with the weight and balance of the rod

I have a new Sellus and several old Lightning rod.  The LR is a far more sensitive rod but I have had problems with broken guides on them in the past.  I normally just repair them and keep going.

I know it probably sounds silly coming from me, but it's nice to see, not everyone has become jaded by G Loomis, Megabass, and JDM...etc.

Or wait for closeout sales on upcoming redesigned or replaced models.

Wait until Thursday. Cabelas will have their Fish Eagle 50 rods on sale for $45. One heck of a deal.

H2O Express ethos. It is a great rod for the money. It also has a heck of a return policy if for some reason they break. I had one for about a year and I took it back and they replaced it no questions asked.
