gravyfor3 Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 i am new to the forum and idk if there is an OFFICIAL thread like this but can yall please share pics of homemade rods? i am going to be starting my own soon Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 That's not a bad idea at all. I'm going to start my first rod around august or september when my next big bonus comes through. After I screw up the first two or three, I want to try to tackle a split grip, spiral wrapped Lamiglass or G. Loomis. I'll be starting a thread to bother flechero, Alpster, and ReelMechanic soon anyway ;D Quote
gravyfor3 Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 alrighty well if anyone has pics of a homemade rod there welcome here Quote

Super User flechero Posted June 11, 2008 Super User Posted June 11, 2008 flechero that is a NO NO mixing shimanos and abu's how could you. ;D There were also 2 Daiwa's in that first pic. 1 has since been sold but, if makes you feel better, I am going to sell the Revos and add another 50MG or 2... I like the profile of them and they fit my hand better. The old Abu's are sentimental so even though they rarely see water these days, they are enjoying a plush retirement. ...lol Quote

Super User .RM. Posted June 11, 2008 Super User Posted June 11, 2008 Here is one I just finished up for myself about 2 weeks ago, after the wife closed my favorite spinner bait rod in the tailgate of the truck. Blank is a 2007 matte SC370MHF, it is bumper style wrapped to the left and is balanced slightly tip heavy for my Curado 201BSF. Used as my T-rig & Jig rod... Used Fuji Hardloy stripper and micro (5.5) fly guides, wrapped with Candy Apple thread and a single Silver inlay. The seat is a Fuji ECS trimmed to the Curado.. Seat Grip and Fighting Butt are custom turned out of Burnt Burl with Laguna accent rings, same for the fighting butt.. In this shot you get to see the some of the artwork that the Boss does in the split area's of my rods. This one is red and yellow flames, then the rods decals are placed. Now back to working the rods for my for sale page.... Tight Lines All ! Quote

Super User .RM. Posted June 11, 2008 Super User Posted June 11, 2008 Yup here is a tighter shot of her flame work on that rod, I think she did a super job. She said she tried to make up for breaking my favorite spinnerbit rod.. Tight Wraps!!! Quote
JayW Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Some of these pics are kinda crappy. A few of these are personal rods and the others were built for friends. Quote
AnthonyRSS Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Just finished a father/son pair for Father's Day. Simple spiral, 3.5mm running guides. Anthony Quote
AnthonyRSS Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Jay- Is that the Spotsticker reel seat in the last picture? How do you like it? PS- Between fishing and building rods and everything else, I am working on a 98 z28, MTI R1 cam, LTs, stall, etc. Anthony Quote

I built it for a friend and he picked that reel seat out a mudhole catalog. I used to have one on another rod, but without the wood inset, and I liked it. I usually just use a Fuji deluxe reel seat though. Jay- Is that the Spotsticker reel seat in the last picture? The SS has a Z06 cam, Mac headers, O/R pipe, 3" SLP dual/dual catback, Whisper lid, 160* thermo. LS1 edit, Yank 2600 stall converter and Nittos. It ran mid 12's@110 with approx. 340 rwhp. Nothing super bad by any means, but it was a fun car! I've oned a BUNCH of F-Bodys over the years. I had a '90 Formula 350 with a fully built motor back in the day. That car was a blast! Way too much to list on that one!Jay Quote
