Hey guys. Just ordered 2 new reels and now need to attach them to something. Anyone have opinions on the cabelas zx series? I also love fen wick. I have a fenwick silverhawk for jig/wormin. I'm looking at the HMG or HMX series, any opinions there? If not then I'm going to pick up 2 more silverhawks. Thanks guys! Almost 60 degrees today in Iowa, this hard water will be soft soon!

Fenwick Fenwick Fenwick.

I own a HMG and my buddy has an HMX. I also own a few silverhawks (which are great).

Go to a retail store and check out the HMG/HMX and see which one you like.

The HMG is more responsive and is a better rod than the HMX or the Silver Hawk. I have a 1st generation Vendetta and I believe the Silver Hawk is made on the same 30 ton blank because they both feel quite similar to me with the edge being the Silver Hawk feels a tad lighter but it is probably due to the better guides and reel seat. Trust me, I have Fenwick rods in the Elite Tech Smallmouth series, the Aetos series, and the HMG series. If you like the Silver Hawk then the HMG you will love, it is a much better rod in just about every category.

Just picked up a Cabela's Tournament ZX casting rod based upon how they scored in reviews. Haven't had it out on the water yet but it seems pretty solid so far. I've fondled the HMG in the store and they seem like a sweet rod too.

The new phenix maxum sure looks like a good rod to me.
