How important is it to match your shakey head color to your worm color? I have the Missile Baits Warlock Shakey heads and they only come in black and green pumpkin. They will cover most colors that I will use but what about the morning dawn, shad color, or reds that I use. Thanks.

First off, welcome to BR!

Second, I've always wondered about this as well but figure the head is going to be down in some muck, sand, grass etc and probably will not matter. I think it looks better to us than to the bass.

Not at all, but I understand it makes guys feel good when they do.

Black goes with anything, and it's all I use.

If you fish hard bottoms and rocks, all the colors revert back to natural Lead color. Must be a genetic thing! :)

I make my own and I paint everyone black and green pumpkin as they are the 2 most universal colors out there and will work with any other color.

A contrasting head or even a hi-vis orange head will occasionally increase bites with smallmouth...

Just my opinion, but my unpainted shaky heads, (Owner) match any soft plastic I wish. OK, so I don't dress well either. By only using unpainted, things are simpler, (remember KISS principle), and cheaper too!

Spent 6 weeks over 3 years fishing KY. Lake ( the shakey head capital of bass fishing) Black/pumpkin/lead color, could not see a difference in catch rate. Just my opinion.

Yea. I wonder why I even bother painting them.

If you think it matters, it does. I don't, so it doesn't

I have not found that it makes any difference whatsoever. If unpainted heads are cheaper then thats just the better!

IT makes a differenceh in clear california resevoirs but on the most part not so much.  I love megastrike shakey heads period.  guranteed to always land right side up and stay right side up every time.  I pair a missle bait d-bomb green pumpkin red or in super bug with a green pumpkin megastrike shakey head and that is my go to bait anytime i have to fish somewhere new.  might also try the fuse 4.4 with a megastrike or the yum pumpkin shakey head in green pumpkin is sick too.
