Pitching Advice

Ok so I got all my punching gear set to roll (1oz tungstens, skirts, braid, 1.5 oz jigs etc...) Question now is what do I get to flip/pitch docks? Lighter gear? Please advise

I youtubed fliping and pitching then did alot of practice to get good at it i like to use at least a half oz jig when i do it now im trying to learn how to skip a jig a whole diffrent ball game

You can pitch a dock with a 1oz jig or a weightless Senko. You probably will want a lighter and maybe shorter rod though.

Depends what type of docks, any other cover that's in the environment & how "Deep" into the dock you're planning on going.

 

Since a dock is simply another type of cover, just modify your gear (rod, line, bait and terminal tackle) to meet (or exceed) the situation you're faced with.

 

For None to Light cover stuff I'll throw spinning gear.

When I pitch around docks I downsize personally. I usually use a shorter rod, 6'10 MHXF is my preference, with a 3/8 oz arky style jig. The arky style really helps me skip further and its a great all around jig in my opinion. As for line, I usually stick to 14-17 lb flouro for the majority of the time.  I am no expert but this seems to work for me. Hope this helps!

A lot of docks have abundant grass around them but not under them. If they are buried in the grass you may need to punch. If they are way underneath in the dark, you likely can downsize a bit.

I wish my lakes had docks to skip under. We usually flip/skip under hanging brush or trees. Honestly skipping wacky rigged finesse zoom worms caught us a ton of bass last year.

Bluebasser86 beat me to it. Weightless senkos can be deadly when skipped under docks and other manmade cover.

Glenn May has a great youtube video on flipping and pitching as far as how to casting. As far as advice goes it all depends man, your preference plus what's presented to you.
