endless Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Are Walmart putting a stop on carrying ammo again?? Do anyone know?? I went to Walmart by my house and no 5.56 at all, Walmart in Central Park had a few 223 and the 90 ct and 120 ct of American Eagle in 5.56, and Massapanox Walmart was the same as Central Park. The guy at Central Park said the can't get none in. If true I'm not sure but not surprised if is true. Heck they was short on other ammo like my 45acp. I got me two boxes of Perfecta 45acp to try and the 90ct box of American Eagle 5.56 55gr. clipped. Hopefully it was just a crazy sell week on ammo and they can and will get more in but do anyone see this where they at?? Quote
Crappiebasser Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 It's because of the proposed ban on green tip 5.56. I was I a local store today and the owner said sales have been nearly as high as they were after Sandy Hook. Quote
unageo09 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Local walmart around here has not had much if any rifle or pistol ammo for a couple years now but plenty of shotgun shells. Went by Gander Mountain today and there was plenty of ammo there. Of course no .22 but anything else was well stocked including 5.56 green tips. Quote
thomas15 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Since I started hand loading my own ammo, I really haven't noticed the availability of factory ammo in WalMart or any other mart. All except 22LR, which is available, even though prices are high. Quote
tin boat Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Ours has limited availability...but reloading supplies are showing back up...yes, our wally world carries reloading equipment. Quote
thomas15 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Ours has limited availability...but reloading supplies are showing back up...yes, our wally world carries reloading equipment. My local WalMart also carries some reloading stuff. They have RCBS products, Rock Chucker presses, 505 scales, Uniflow powder measures, a selection of dies and shell holders, misc. tools and primers, even some projectiles. No Powder though. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted March 12, 2015 Super User Posted March 12, 2015 This ammo shortage, ( implied ) has been going on for 30 years, lol.. You really should find a better source than Walmart if at all possible. 1 Quote
0119 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Local shops can't beat Wal-Mart prices around here. Fed. Alum. Case .45acp for 14 bucks. Limited to 3 boxes at a time per customer here locally though. Quote
endless Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 One of the reason I buy at Walmart are the prices. Especially around here in Fredericksburg everywhere just so high. Especially on 357 mag. Gander mountain is crazy. Most of the local gun shops are too. The range I shoot at not bad on prices though but most be shot there. They're all are reloads. Now I do my ammo at DK Firearms in Caroline county but I'm not always up there. I just got back from my Walmart by the house, the wife needed her tea bags but they had a few ZQI 5.56 in this time. The 30 rd for $10, american eagle 90ct and 120ct. No federal alum 45acp though just perfecta and 100ct of federal brass and Winchester. Quote
endless Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 I went to Walmart up the road in massapanox which is the walmart I prefer anyways but shoot they are loaded with the ZQI 5.56 for $10. Quote
crazyjoeclemens Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Its my understanding that they leave some of those decisions up to the local manager of each store. There are 4 WalMart stores within 30 minutes of me and none of them carry firearms. Its also darn near impossible to find anyone that can print out a hunting or fishing license. They all have a small ammo display, but that's it. On the other hand, I've been to a few WalMart stores in the southern end of the state, and they still have a full-time guy at the sporting goods desk and a rack full of 870's and 10/22's. Go figure.
