Abu garcia veracity 7'6 heavy. Been watching the fish move up to bed where i live. Tossing a jig across beds. Finally got a SOLID hook up. about 45 seconds into the fight my rod snapped in 2 places. about 6 inches above the handle and 3/4 up the rod. GREAT customer service and are replacing it for free. Anyone else had something like that happen to one of these rods?

From what I remember, the First-Gen VERITAS's had a huge problem with breakage. But supposedly, Abu fixed these breaking issues with the Veritas 2.0 line.

I've never had a veritas break. And the veracricty is a beast. I caught a 9 pounder on the rod with no problem. The whole story leading to it is a little more detailed. I hooked into a fish. Not sure the size but he ran out my drag on my revo beast. Then the fish went straight down and it snapped.

If you had the tip held high when the fish dove hard that can certainly contribute. If a rod breaks after first couple times its really loaded, there are undeniably factors at play beyond defect. Good that they're taking care of you.

Not sure I would want another!  Never had a rod break!

having watched a few MLF episodes lately, i think i've counted 3 broken rods in about 7 or 8 episodes i've watched so it's not just the weekend warriors.  i've broken 2 like a moron myself, but just last weekend had one break on the cast.

i just had a 6'10"M *** black casting rod "break" (more like cleanly separate, no sound whatsoever) on the 3rd or 4th cast on the debut.  i was tossing a lc pointer 100 on 10# yozuri hybrid so i was within the rod specs.  i called *** and have already shipped to them for review and hopefully replacement.  we shall see if they take care of me in the same way.

and i have heard NOTHING but stellar reviews on Abu customer service.  most stories i hear involve them going above and beyond just replacing the rod/fixing the problem.

I've only have had one rod break bass fishing, actually had the same rod break twice.  Both the H2O 7'6"XH using it to flip.  Had the tip break first outing about 8" down, then got it replaced, and had the other one for about a year before lifting a 1lb bass and a bit of grass up out of the water and the rod shattered into 3 pieces all breaking at the first 12" of the rod.  Like the H2O's, just won't fish this rod again.  Two breaking in the same area it wasn't worth shipping back the second time.

If any of you have Abu rods you don't trust anymore. ...I will gladly pay shipping to my house where I will "dispose" of them for you.

Their customer service was hands down the best i've dealt with. They didn't make me present the original receipt. I'm not the best at keeping track of stuff like that. lol But i have a binder of receipts for everything i own fishing rod  and reel wise

Receipts can fade and be hard to read.  I scan mine and keep a file in my PC, backed up to flash drive.  I've never had rod break while handling a fish.

that's good news!  i literally just got off the phone with *** about the rod i referenced above and same deal.  no questions asked took care of me.  glad to see some companies still servicing their products after the purchase!  i feel a lot better about buying abu and *** after my experiences and stories like yours.

I want to try out *** rods. But the experience I had with them was not so good. I just emailed contacting them about reels. Wanted to know if they'd planned on releasing lefty models and I was told "it's not worth our time or effort to cater to lefties when there are more right handed people"

Yup, and fast too.. I have lost most of my receipt's

To light energy, they disappear faster than blueprints. Scanning is a sure fire way, but so is a simple photo.

Even easier.

A little something I recently discovered, my new smartphone camera app has no macro setting. By using the stock "optical reader", works better for me than a macro camera setting.  Yes I could have d/l a camera app with macro, but my camera is voice activated, I like it.
