I know this has probably been asked and debated but here goes. Looking to spool up some reels. Am I understanding that most guys feel that you're better off, sensitivity, abrasion, memory the whole ball of wax, that lines such as Yozuri hybrid performs better than braid? For the past 2 seasons I've fished braid with flouro leaders. Yes it works but I don't know if I'm convinced it's the way to go. Everyone has his or her own opinion and why they use what they use and I'm all ears, our in this case eyes. Thanks

Bottom contact baits: braid/fluoro leader. Added sensitivity with the braided mainline. Less visibility/more abrasion resistance with the leader.

Flipping/Pitching: Braid/Heavy fluoro leader. Same as above. Less visibility. Excellent abrasion resistance around wood with fluoro.

Punching: Braid. Better knot strength, sensitivity, and raw power to pull fish out from mats.

Cranking: Fluoro. Has plenty of stretch and gets your cranks a little deeper due to fluoros density and the fact it has a smaller diameter compared to mono in similar # tests.

Top water (not frogs): Mono. Allows your bait to stay on top of the water when you're working the bait because it floats. Has more stretch than braid for treble hooks.

Frogs: Braid. Allows you to walk the frog and gives more power on hooksets. Also allows you to pull fish out of some nasty stuff without worrying about break offs.

Just my opinion. Some people, of course, will have different opinions on which line is best for whatever technique.

I use copoly (yz hybrid) for everything except punching and hollow frogs.

But that doesn't mean its right for YOU. If you're happy with your current set up- then don't change it.

I use braid for everything on top.

Frogs and treble baits included because of the strength, no stretch, it floats and the rod I use is soft enough on the top end and heavy enough on the bottom.

Floro for all bottom contact.

I get the added benefit of less visibilty along with the sensitivity it gives especially in windy conditions.

Floro or Yo zuri for all moving baits depending on the conditions I'm throwing into.

Braid with a floro leader for all finesse presentation's which is thrown on spinning only.

Don't use mono for anything any more...Don't see the need

Mono for everything , I dislike braids  .

I need to give floro another shot though . A different brand than what I used before . It was hideous stuff and I couldnt even tie a suitable knot with it .

There are discussions over and over again on this topic, it really comes down to what feels good.

Personally I use straight fluoro, with one copoly rod for topwater and two braid rods for heavy grass. Mono is absolutely horrendous to me. I tried each until I found what worked on the water for me, not what some none fishing test said or opinions of others.

The more I think about these "which line is best " threads, the more I believe that it's like asking

"Which brand of gas and what octane is best to use in my vehicle ?"

They all work but everyone has a favorite which often revolves around performance & price.

The Only way YOU will know is to use the lines & see... The fact your not blown away by braid, indicates you should try other line types. Fish with a few types now & settle the dispute... Then come back here and ask which color Senko works best!

Anything where my line is going to be going slack and be under the water I personally just can't stand braid.  If it is on top or I am going to have a tight line... (controlled slack when flipping, steady retrieve baits like cranks, spinnerbaits or a buzzbait or frog on top) I love braid.  That is the way I personally can and can't do it.  I really used to hate braid then kind of got used to it after a bit.  I love the fact it is zero stretch and that is awesome for the way I like to do things.

it's a lot like beers. some like Ales, other pilsner, some IPA, etc. .....  some might cost 25 cents some might cost $15....

but in the end they'll all get you drunk.

all these lines will work and catch fish or they wouldn't be able to sell them.  you need to figure out what you fish most, where you fish most and what is right for you.
