Super User buzzed bait Posted March 6, 2015 Super User Posted March 6, 2015 That's still Long John weather for some of us old guys....lol. Definitely fishing weather though. Hootie pretty sure long johns and old guys is redundant hootie..... long johns is the old guy term. now they call them thermals or base layers or whatever the he** and charge the most ridiculous price ever! and the old school "long johns" (although sometimes scratchy) typically keep me warmer. 1 Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted March 6, 2015 Super User Posted March 6, 2015 First Child is due in a few weeks, I need all the fishing time I can get before he/she arrives. Come on sunshine!!!!!! Just carry them around while you're bank fishing. They have those baby carriers. While you keep them warm and safe (and you stay warm) you're helping out the wife! Quote
Lasher Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) Just carry them around while you're bank fishing. They have those baby carriers. While you keep them warm and safe (and you stay warm) you're helping out the wife! Problem is my wife won't trust me to watch the baby while fishing, and she's probably right. Just have to separate new born duties and fishing for a little bit. Then it will be time to teach the kid how to fish, I'm very excited about that. Edited March 6, 2015 by Lasher Quote

Then for added safety for the baby get these and this! In all seriousness, it is very exciting to have children. It's an awesome feeling to be a dad. Congrats! Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 6, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 6, 2015 The Virginia BASS Region 3 tournament this weekend, March 7, has been cancelled. Pea Hill Creek on Lake Gaston is frozen out to the bridge along with ice on the ramp and in the parking lot including 14* projected at blast off. You just can't tell those guys that early March is a crap shoot with the weather. I am still amazed that they cancelled the tournament. Quote
Shockwave Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 We're still waiting for ice to melt here as well. It'll be a while before I get a line wet. Quote
Kevin Beachy Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Wont be long around here before the ice melts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally were suppose to get weather in the 50-60 degree range, which is pretty good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(for around here) Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 7, 2015 Super User Posted March 7, 2015 It was in the low 50's yesterday and today it is in the low 60's. The lakes by my house still have ice on them! Quote
plumworm Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Shockwave, how long have you lived in WI.? If ice is off the lakes north of "64" by opening day, it's a good year. Be patient my young friend, this too will pass. Quote
ABW Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Most of the ice and snow has melted here in Indiana.. SPRING HERE I COME! Quote
jhoffman Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 A tournament is scheduled for the 29th in pa. Lol I'd bet just like last year that event will be dropped. Quote
wytstang Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Supposed to be in the 70's all week........and rain from Tuesday-Saturday . I will say this the bass yesterday were biting hard when 9am hit, it was literally like some one turned on the On switch. Pretty amazing to witness/experience this sudden change in behavior (very welcomed behavior). Quote
skeeter1980 Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 We are having 50-near 60 temps this week. The ice and snow should be gone soon. Quote
Mossyoak88 Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 The ice is melting here but not gone yet. Hopefully soon though! Quote

Super User *Hootie Posted March 8, 2015 Super User Posted March 8, 2015 My lake was supposed to open this weekend, but the cold snap locked it up tight. Postponed until next weekend. Hootie Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 8, 2015 Super User Posted March 8, 2015 Air temps above freezing here today for the first time in since before Thanksgiving . . . . And the better news is the prediction is for A/T's in the 40's next week. I'll take the Flood that's bound to accompany the warmth as it will definitely feel good after all the cold. Lakes are still waaaaaaayyyyyyy frozen and will be for several more weeks. A-Jay Quote
ABW Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Drove past a fishing spot today but the entire place is frozen still. Saw someone trying to fish from the bank, which was kind of funny. Quote
ColdSVT Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 We have a pile of snow in the woods and mtns up here in northcentral pa. If it melts quick there will be a ton of water flowing into the sq and all of the lakes. I want it gone but not to quickly Quote
Djman72 Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 This week will be the great thaw..... Next week will be a little thaw and water levels regulating. Week or two after that i'll be out wetting a line. Good stuff! 1 Quote
Weld's Largemouth Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Saw a small shallow section unfrozen at a pond nearby... its coming soon! Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I felt so nice yesterday (and today) I had to get out and shoot some video. Oh man, this nice weather makes want to get my kayak out. But the ponds are still frozen. Quote
RF813 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Oh man....I cannot WAIT for the temps to raise. 37 today in CT felt warm. I live in CT and head home to MA a lot, and we have been getting crushed this winter. These temps are a welcome change. Now we just need to melt the 3 feet of snow off the ice so the ice can melt. rich 1 Quote
