CK_32 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Anyone have any tricks or tips on how to get POP molds to press out shiny plastics? I'm not liking the full finish. I know it's more of a fishermen cosmetic but like the shine personally. I saw a truck on using 50/50 water and school glue, epoxy, basically breaking the contact and creating a barrier between the plastic and POP to let is cute and shine and not soal into the mold. But don't want to lose defenition in my molds. Anyone have any tricks to get some shine out fresh from the mold? Quote
CK_32 Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 Well I tried the glue/water and it worked ok. No one else has any tricks? Quote
Ben Eipert Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Try spraying it with a heat resistant finish or coating with epoxy. You need to make it glossy and smooth for the bait to be glossy and smooth. Quote
plural_of_fant Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 I coated mine with a urethane. Don't lose any details and good shiney baits. Took like 10 coats Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted March 8, 2015 Super User Posted March 8, 2015 Thin coat of epoxy or remake the mold with silicon. Quote
basspatrol Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 epoxy is the way to go for my pop molds . Single coat for me do fine hehehe Quote
Tim Kelly Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Waft the baits over with a flame after you take them out of the mold. It gives them a nice shiny finish. Quote
kbeeb374 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I have pop molds that I coated with Mod Podge. I have also heard of people spraying the mold with cooking spray right before pouring. http://www.amazon.com/Podge-CS11202-Original-16-Ounce-Finish/dp/B00178QQJ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427130683&sr=8-1&keywords=mod+podge Quote
