Weighted hooks

Does anyone make keel weighted swimbait/soft plastic jerkbait style hook molds? I'm looking to start making my own in 1/8-3/16, but can't find a mold on shawn collins site or on barlows/do-it. Does anyone make a mold for these style of hooks?

Yeah, I was hoping it would already be on someone's product line though.  Getting into custom stuff sounds like it would be really pricey.  I'd have to plan on selling those things to make it worthwhile really.  One of these types of hooks can last forever, so it's not an expensive endevour to buy them from the store.  In fact, I don't think I've ever lost one. :-?  

I'm using the big bites one right now.  I guess I'm just funny about my hooks.  If it doesn't say gamakatsu, mustad, or owner somewhere, I start getting nervous.

I wouldn't worry about the hooks, as much as the sharpness of a hook.  If you buy a cheaper hook and have time, you could always sharpen the tip with a hook sharpener...    I haven't had that issue with my lazer sharp hooks, so I usually use them for everything.  But a hook, is a hook... lol

I use the Gremlin oblong Rubber Core sinkers.  Pull the rubber insert out and the gap fits around a hook very well.  Just crimp it lightly to the hook and you have a good weighted swimbait hook.  Plus you can get most any weight and they are easy to change if you want to change weights on a hook.

Now that's genius.  That will hold me over until I can get a custom mold made, at any rate.  Thanks man!!  Owners are back in business!

I prefer to wrap the shank of my chosen hook with Storm suspend strips.  If I'm preparing these at home I wrap the lead strips to the hook with fly tying thread and give it a coat of fingernail polish.

Wrapping solder should work as well? I have used it on crankbait hooks to make them slow floaters.

I'm going to try some of these home versions, but I am already getting the itch for a mold.  I got a quote from shawn collins already and am seriously considering starting the "I don't need it but I want it" fund back up.  But for the time being, I'm gonna just use some of these ideas.  Thanks guys!!
