I have already posted about the iROD Genesis II Fred's Magic Stick asking about if it would be a good finesse swimbait rod and have gotten some good responses.

I just saw on TW that they have a new line of value driven rods called the Fiber Series. I was curious if the 7'5" Heavy model is pretty much the same blank as Fred's Magic Stick just with cheaper components. If this is the case, I will be picking up this model instead of Fred's Magic Stick.

Does anyone have any input or experience with the Fiber Series line of rods? Thanks.

$50 will get you premium components and a lifetime warranty.  Don't see any warranty listed on the Fiber Series nor is there a taper listed so it's hard to say if it's going to be the same action or blank between the two.  But I would bet they aren't the same.

That iROD Genesis II Fred's Magic Stick is one heck of a rod too. It does a lot of thing very well. I think I would just go with it.

I know this is a VERY old discussion but I just stumbled across it. I spoke with Matt (owner of iRod) and he said the Fiber series is exactly the same blank (the 7'5" model is also called a Fred's Magic Stick just like the Genesis II model) as the Genesis II with different guides and handle. I was impressed by all of the good reviews and actually just purchased one for myself so we'll see :).

I like old thread revivals... But to let everyone know, I picked up the Genesis II Fred's Magic Stick and have NOT been disappointed! I also picked up the Genesis II 7' HF 1/4-1 1/4oz rod that they make as my multipurpose rod (it fishes like a MH), I have it paired up with an Okuma Helios LP reel and its the lightest setup I have. I may try the Fiber Series one of these days...

I own a Genesis II Gabes Rip rap Special, a 703CC, and my wife fishes a Genesis II heavy finesse spinning rod, Thise Genesis II rods are sweet. I would stick to the Genesis IIs they are worth just a little more money for better components.
