Bass2124 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Just purchased 5 KVD jerkbait/slashbait after watching a KVD video about how great of a jerkbait it was and how he spent 2 years perfecting it. Come to find out, many said he was using a Megabass Vision 110 on a recent MLF show! I want my money back! Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted March 4, 2015 Super User Posted March 4, 2015 He was using the Megabass 3 or 4 years ago during the first season of MLF, before the KVD bait was available. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 4, 2015 Global Moderator Posted March 4, 2015 He was using a Megabass at the 2013 Classic at Grand too, at least when he came by the cabin we were staying in he was! The KVD jerkbaits work though. I'm not a fan of them but I know guys that do well with them. 1 Quote
bassinyea Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I have looked at them and just didn't feel it so I never bought any. Kind of a weird thing to explain but I kinda feel that way with a lot of strike king hard baits these days. They just look kinda plain and generic to me, all the way from the bait design to the actual paint jobs. Of course my wallet would like it much better if I would stay away from the lucky crafts and such. Every time I see people around here fishing offshore cranking they are throwing a 5 or 6xd and when they are fishing shallow a kvd 1.5 or 2.5. I think the fish see too many of them around here so I try to fish some different stuff. 1 Quote
Logan S Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 It certainly tells you something about the Vision 110, huh? Still, I wouldn't feel bad about buying the KVD jerkbaits...IMO the entire KVD/Strike King line are quality baits with a good price. I haven't tried the jerkbait myself, but if it's anything like the KVD 1.5 Squarebill and Red Eye Shad in terms of quality/value, it should be a solid bait. Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted March 4, 2015 Super User Posted March 4, 2015 The fish around here don't mind that the baits I use cost $5-$8 instead of $15-$25+ Quote
HookdUP Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I have both kvd and mega bass and smitwick and rapala and duo realis and spro and I catch on all of them ... U buy the colors that the basic baits don't have or something I like in the ther brands ... I'm a fish ***** not a brand ***** ..... Kvd uses almost all his products from what I've seen .. But he will use any other product to get a check ... Quote
Mass Bassin' Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I don't care what he was using. I have KVD jerkbaits and there AMAZING! 2 Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted March 5, 2015 Super User Posted March 5, 2015 I like the KVD baits just fine. They are my go to jerk bait. I don't care if his name is on it or not. The more important name on the package is Strike King, who makes quality AFFORDABLE baits for poor people like me. With all the pike around here I would be broke feeding them $25 baits. Quote
hoosierhawghunter Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Only jerkbait ill throw. They work for me . Quote

I love the KVD squarebills and the red eyes shads are my favorite lipless crank of all the ones that I have tried. Some even come with the trokar hooks. Quote
mmrivera86 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I'm a huge fan of the KVD jerk baits. Whether he actually uses them or not - I do. I've had a lot of luck with them, and they've helped me out in plenty of tournaments as well. Also, as weird as the color may be, try out the Strobe Shad. Lost mine recently and will be ordering another one. Quote
kcdinkerz Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I love the kvd jerks lots of action on the rip and when I'm lazy I can always just reel stop and go still has plenty of side to side movement. just kinda pricey. I use smithwickS unless the fish want a lot of darting. The fish in my profile pic was caught on a kvd jerk lol Quote
primetime Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 He won one of his classics on a rogue while his jerkbait was out, but in reality, KVD would catch fish on a Matzuo Jerkbait because he spends all of his time fishing and is in the right spots, I am sure Strike King jerkbaits are very good as are all of there products. I would have confidence if all I had was KVD jerkbaits with me even though I never used one. Good hook, colors, plus it's KVD. 1 Quote
bassin is addicting Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 do you change the hooks on the KVD jerkbait? If so, what hook do you change to and what size? Quote
