Super User burleytog Posted February 15, 2008 Super User Posted February 15, 2008 Bet it took longer to arrange them for the photo than it took to make them. So when should I expect my sample? Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted February 15, 2008 Super User Posted February 15, 2008 d**n dude, you done messed around and turned into a lure maker. Very nice looking baits and paint jobs!! BTW, I'm mailing out those lures to you today. Yeah, I know I suck. Mr Procrastination, that's me. Quote
Masshole Mike Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 those look awesome bizz. are you going to be selling any or are they all for personal use? Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Very nice. All the people from tacklemaking should band together and make a BassResource line of baits Quote
MaxDal Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Wow awesome baits Fourbizz ! 8-) And I love the color pattern too. You seem to be good at hand carving the same form multiple times ! Congrats on that. Do you have like a Custom Bait company ? Aren't the hooks on the biggest ones a tad small ? Just asking ! Quote

paul. Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 wow those look as good as anything i've ever seen in a store. i'm totally impressed! Quote
Super User Alpster Posted February 17, 2008 Super User Posted February 17, 2008 Awesome baits Jay! Very nice work! Did you tie the hackle feathers on the trebles or did you buy them that way? I believe all topwater baits should have a feather or a skirt. JMHO Ronnie Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted February 17, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 17, 2008 Thanks again guys! Ronnie, with all the big baits being brought in from overseas and mass produced, I wanted to throwback to the style of the original big baits. Hand made, garage style. The only things that I buy are owner stingers, split rings and screw eyes. I carve the gills in with a knife, not a dremel (even though I have a couple ) I hand make my own 3D eyes, tie my own feathers, pool test and balance every bait, and basically just put a bunch of myself into every one of them. The guys like Matt(lures), Mickey (3:16), and Ken (Huddleston) are an inspiration to do it the right way, by hand, in America! I built the first one about 2.5 years ago when there wasn't anything like it on the market. But they have improved a bit since then . These and 8 more are already sold, to a new online shop, so I'll be getting started on some more tomorrow I haven't forgot about you either, when I ship that rod back to you, there will be one of these in your choice of size and color in the tube. Super User .dsaavedra. Posted February 17, 2008 Super User Posted February 17, 2008 Jay, what do you use for a clear coat? i plan on re-painting a bunch of baits soon and i need a good clear coat. i have used devcon 2-ton epoxy before but i was wondering if there was something else that would make a good clear coat. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted February 17, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 17, 2008 Envirotex Lite Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted February 17, 2008 Super User Posted February 17, 2008 ok thanks. what exactly is that? is it similar to an epoxy? oh, and by the way, do you have a drying wheel to get even clear coats? Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted February 17, 2008 Author Super User Posted February 17, 2008 it is a 2 part just like devcon. yeah I do, might have to revamp it a bit. its not handling 30 ounces+ of baits at a time very well Quote
