Aquaholics Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I heard there were snakehead in the tradewinds park water system. Does anybody know if this is true? If so what should I use to catch them? And advice is helpful! Thanks ☺ Quote
ThomasFengler Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 There is, and you can catch them on just about any top water lure, but the best is any type of frog Quote
Aquaholics Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Thanks so much I'll be sure to fish there soon! Do I need to use braid to frog fish or will mono or flurocarbon work just as Well? Quote
Shanes7614 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Braid helps with the lack of stretch it has. Quote

And advice is helpful! Thanks ☺i replied to your other post regarding snakeheads, the big one i caught there was on a okeechobee blue trick worm. Rigged up with a 1/8 ounce chrome jig head on 10 lb power pro. If I recall he hit the second it touched the water. I've caught them from using Senkos to flukes to pretty much anything. I don't target them though. They're just accidental catches. I do however kill them. Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted March 3, 2015 Super User Posted March 3, 2015 I was hoping this would be a thread on how in addition to the adult snakeheads walking on land for miles to eat your dogs and children, the eggs can be carried by tradewinds to new areas! Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 3, 2015 Super User Posted March 3, 2015 I don't fish for them any more. Don't want to release them and don't want to kill a fish I won't be using for food or bait. I just removed myself from the equation of not having to deal with it. Quote

I just removed myself from the equation of not having to deal with it. I respect your position in regards to not wanting to kill a fish just to kill it. I remember as a kid, I used to throw Gar and Mudfish on the bank. I would never do that now with those native species. However, if I had the opportunity to catch Snakeheads, I would kill everyone that I could for the sake of our native species. Quote
Big C Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 If you catch one eat it. (Before they eat somebody or something). Quote

Penguino Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 eat, eat, eat, they ate great table fair. (at least the northern species) lol I would definetly eat one. I'm Chinese, so they are a native fish for us. My family has a few special recipes for those snakes. Quote
