ABW Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Welcome to BR! The "reel" answer is up to you. Many of us have our preferences for certain brands. What are yours? Quote
bassangleram Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Thanks for your imput, I am a big fan of lews, shimano and diawa and they all have quality reels in that range that I could use. My two favorites are the shimano chronarch ci4 and the diawa zillion tws. I am stuck with those two and I just wanted to know peoples favorites In that range. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Shimano metanium for $270 JDM. 4 Quote
Brnnoser6983 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Abu Revo Winch 99 Abu Toro Winch 199 (both with a low 5:4.1 ratio) My favorite Abu Rocket, but this is a high speed reel. Quote
bassangleram Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 thanks ill look into all of these. Quote
bassinyea Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Lews BB1 Pro. Large line capacity, awesome braking system, longer handle for increased torque, lightweight, and it looks awesome. Casts smooth and far with very little fine tuning needed once you get it set. Quote
livetofish28 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 At that price the answer is yes tight lines Andrew Quote
papajoe222 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Choose one of the brands mentioned within that price range and you won't go wrong. Quote
fishangdood Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 200-300, go Lew's. Features/Build:Coin ratio is as close to a 1:1 than most any other brands out there; I'm an Abu guy myself. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 2, 2015 Super User Posted March 2, 2015 Shimano metanium for $270 JDM. Sweet! Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted March 2, 2015 Super User Posted March 2, 2015 I don't know that there is a bad reel in that range. Find one that has the features that appeal the most to you. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted March 3, 2015 Super User Posted March 3, 2015 You really can't go wrong with that budget. Everyone is going to have their favorites. Try to get your hands on as many as you can and pick which one feels the best and offers the features you're looking for in a casting reel. Each company has some good choices. You have to pick one. Daiwa Shimano Lews Abu Quote
FishinFool22 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Any of them in that range will do you good. I would add Pflueger to the list above Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 3, 2015 Super User Posted March 3, 2015 Sort f like asking for the best car in the 60 - 80k range. There isn't much junk up there. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted March 3, 2015 Super User Posted March 3, 2015 Right now, the best thing going in that range is last year's Zillion. Not a great finesse reel, but top shelf for anything else. Built like a tank; you'll have it for a long time with normal maintenance. Quote
