Brandon Moss Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I am looking for a new rod to use almost solely as a frog rod. My budget is $100.I am torn between these two, so I turn to the land of vast knowledge and opinions. If you have another recommendation, I would love to hear it. Thanks guys. Another Pickle: Any thoughts on the Halo Daylights? I know they are suppose to have a parabolic action so I think that may cause an issue with hook sets on the top water. Quote

Cabela's Tournament ZX series frog rod on sale currently for $69.00 !! This is regularly a $99.00 rod - it gets GREAT reviews ... Check it out !! Quote
HookdUP Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 A ghost in 7-3 heavy is a greeeeaaat frog rod imo .. Quote
sprint61 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 The veritas without a doubt. They have a frog series check it out. Quote
Casey99 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 A ghost in 7-3 heavy is a greeeeaaat frog rod imo .. Yes!! Quote
benzmech Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I like Duckett rods, but I have never used the Veritas before. Duckett rods are super light and sensitive. If you decide to get a Duckett, do yourself a favor and don't order directly from them. Get it from TW or somewhere else, Duckett has the slowest shipping. I ordered one from BPS and the rod was shipped directly from Duckett. If for some reason you do order from Duckett, order your frogging rod now so you get it in time for frog season. Quote
SwampLife Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 If you can live with out white I would get a *** or falcon BuCoo micro..I'm in the process on a warranty claim on the veritas 2.0 and what made me choose the veritas over the ghost was plenty reviews I read that your line wears grooves in the eyes.. No matter if it's braid or floro... But with that being said I still want to try the ghost.. It looks and feels awesome Quote
RustyShackleford Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I own a Veritas 2.0 and pick up a ghost in dick's today. Wasn't impressed with the ghost. Quote
bassinbrady03 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I have both and prefer the Veritas. The build quality and guides are much better on the veritas. Quote
Cgrinder Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Veritas. Abu's customer service cannot be beat if you're on a budget. Quote
Lip 'em! Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I have both. Go with the veritas for a frogging rod it will run a little bit stiffer than the duckett which will give you more backbone for a good frog hookset on a long cast. Quote
OHBASSIN Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Veritas, love mine. Would buy another if I needed it. Quote
Big C Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I have to suggest a M or M/H Carrot Stix. Perfect frog rod. Put at least 50lb. Power Pro. I have three love them, and in the heat of the summer I fish frogs 90% of the time. Don't like orange? They have green. Quote
Brandon Moss Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 It seems like a really strong Veritas presence here. I've heard a lot of good things about the ***, but it seems that everyone has been sold out of them. As far as the Ghost, I've seen to many reviews saying they have a bad grooving issue with the guides. Thank you guys for all the information. I hope this will help a lot of the anglers like me who are budget fishermen. I don't need tournament grade equipment to fish my small lakes and ponds. Thanks again guys! Quote
