Super User A-Jay Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 This is something I can definitely utilize. Fly fishing in lowlight conditions early & late in the day and even after dark, changing flies is a challenge for me, even with magnified readers (glasses). I'm going to try it. Thank you for posting it. A-Jay 3 Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Good idea. Could help us tie our knots faster and better. Hope someone gets one and can try it out in order to post back what they think about it. Quote
dlh2 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Looks like you could make one with a clothes pin.... Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Kind of expensive, but I ordered 3 anyway. Giving 2 away. My eyes aren't the best so this should be a big help. Will post back after getting to use it. 1 Quote
Josh Smith Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I might try it. Looks like it's limited with regard to the number of different knots it can tie. I only use the clinch knot in limited circumstances. Josh Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Little pricey, but looks like a good idea, especially for low light situations. If that could keep me from using a headlamp that would be great. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Holy cow that's awesome!! I can see that as useful for me. I remember when learning bottom fishing long pole technique from an elderly Korean man, he was trying to thread a hook but kept missing it. I helped him, but inside I laughed and felt sad for him at the same time. It was so easy for me to see the eye and get the 6lb test line thru it. That is until the first time it happened to me after my eyes started "the change" after I turned 40.... These things find a way to come back and bite you in the butt, LOL. 1 Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Unless it ties the knot for me, I'm not buying 1 Quote
ward131 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I can see the eyelet of the hooks just fine. but my hands just don't hold a hook! I have used a my hemostats in the past but this looks like it my do the trick. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 1, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Bit overwhelmed at the enthusiasm. I kinda thought it was the chuckle of the day, given the price tag. If it works for us go4it. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I once knew a girl that could tie a knot in a cherry stem I am blind in one ey and not so great in the other from Diabetes. This should help me imencely. Quote
RustyShackleford Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Take my money!! You forgot the picture to go with that. 1 Quote
mhilgtx Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I can barely see, should be replacing my 5 year old glasses instead of being on this site and buying fising line but I GOTTA HAVE IT! 1 Quote
RSM789 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I am going to wait for the 2.0 version. It sends a small robot up your line checking for nicks, chooses where to cut the line and then chastises you for fishing with monofilament... 1 Quote
atcoha Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Neat little tool, especially for us that wear glasses...I have a hard time seeing up close with my glasses on, and have to remove them to tie. I have had a similar tool for tying snell knots for years...forget the name of it, but it's handy. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 I'll say it if no one else does.....for us older fishermen and women this seems like a worth-while product. As we get older certain things start to fail us. Maybe its the hairline, or the bum knee, or maybe its our eyes. In any case, this is like * for our eyes. :0 Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Looks like you could make one with a clothes pin.... And sell it for $10.99! Quote
Smokinal Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 How does it do my uni to uni and my Modified Albright??? JK, looks like a pretty useful tool in certain conditions, cold being one of them. Wish I had invented it. Quote
plumworm Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I think a lot of us are missing the point of this tool. It's used to thread the line through the eye of the hook, not a knot tool. Most of use old folks need a little help ( some more than others). Pass the line through the hook eye and tie whatever knot you want. Would I buy it? No, but maybe, someday I may have to. $15 is a lot to spend for a tool, unless it will help you keep on fishing. nuff said. Quote
BigSkyBasser Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Looks like it would either make a Palomar a little easier or waaaaaayyyy harder to tie . Would like to see a demonstration of multiple knots before buying. The idea however is great and I'm surprised this wasn't made 20-30 years ago. Quote
