Tyler j Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Hello guys, I have a question on the old reaction innovation barely legal vixens. I see the, going for well over 100 in the right color. What makes them so great? I want to buy some just to find out, but throwing a lure worth $100 is a little beyond me. Quote
blackmax135 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Supposedly they are suppose to be the number one easiest top water bait to walk and are discontinued from what I have read witch is why the price is so freakin high. If your going to use it ask yourself first how many topwater baits have you lost in the past 3 years. Me I don't even like spending $5 on a lure that I could lose at any moment. I could take that 100 bucks and buy a bunch of other baits that could catch just as many fish. But if your a collector might be a good one to have. Crazy how things are priced these days Quote
Blues19 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 What makes the new ones different than the old? Quote
Super User David P Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Save your money from the hype. They are rare and discontinued, thus bringing the big dollars by collectors and people who are into that sort of thing. That doesn't mean they are far superior to other baits for a fraction of the cost. It's the rarity of the collectors and because they are discontinued. Save your money. The bigger Vixen IMO is better for 99% of the time, only rarely does a smaller bait help (at least here). The full size vixen is still rather small and catches tiny 8" fish all the time. More money doesn't always mean more fish. There's just many, many collectors that drive the cost up. Most never throw the darn things. Quote
Big C Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 If they were so great why are they discontinued? Quote

Super User David P Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 If they were so great why are they discontinued? Small business. Was some talk of issues with manufacturer. All Vixens were discontinued. They weren't as popular during their first run, as they have become since being discontinued and now the relaunch of the regular sized Vixen. They're great baits, different sound that a spook. Quote
Big C Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Oh that makes sense. When it's a small company they actually care about quality and craftmanship. Not just the bottom dollar. Quote

Super User tomustang Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Just cause someone is asking $100 doesnt mean it's worth it. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 1, 2015 Global Moderator Posted March 1, 2015 If you're looking for an easy walk the dog bait, a Super Spook Jr. is about as easy as it gets imo. I don't have a hard time walking a bait but I could walk those in my sleep. 1 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Super Spook Jr. , that bait has the right length and weight and is fantastic. I also have a discontinued bait that does a great job but I use them sparingly, the Yo-Zuri Banana Boat, it weighs the same as a Super Spook Jr. but it has a thinner profile so when they want something a little smaller the banana boat is what they get!!!! Super User Senko lover Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 I like the regular Spooks but I find my Yamamato Tate Pencil easier to walk. Quote
Dylcook91 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I gotta a super rare, bone colored spook that I have caught countless bass on (stripers too), I will sell it for a one time offer of $80. You may never find a deal this good again, snag it before it's gone haha Quote

ColdSVT Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I have a regular vixen and holy crap its awesome. Very unique sound, casts for days, and simple to walk. It is very similar to the sammy as far as performance and ease of use but the sound is all its own Great bait i would not drop 100 on one though...or even 40$ lol Quote
