SwampLife Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Never been an abu guy but I recently bought a veritas 2.0 micro guide rod. I was really iffy because I love my omens and falcon BuCoo but I really wanted to try this new version of the veritas. I bought the 7' medium heavy and put a lews tournament on it.. Used it twice never caught a fish on it and I was getting my stuff ready for the next trip and realized the bottom guide insert was cracked and the one above that was popping out.. Is this a warranty claim? Very anal about my fishing equipment I did nothing wrong for this to happen. Quote
RustyShackleford Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I'm with you. Anal about my fishing equipment. I've read about this happening to a few people. I bought one a few weeks ago and haven't used it yet. I hope it's covered under warranty. It has a 3 year warranty. At least we didn't pull a Bill Dance and cut them to length with a ceiling fan. SwampLife Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Haha no kidding .. I called them And sent them pictures and everything a few days ago but they haven't replied back Quote
RustyShackleford Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 That wouldn't happen at Quantum. Sadly, Quantum has gone down in quality. I really hope mine doesn't break. I chose it over a carbonlite and it feels amazing. Quote
SwampLife Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Yeah, the rod looks and feels awesome. A little tip heavy or my real was a little light but the sensitivity was there for a 100 dollar rod.. I was thinking about getting the 7'6 extra heavy for a punching rod but........... Idk I hope they don't try to make me pay shipping to send it back that's easily 25 30 bucks for a rod I only used twice Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted February 27, 2015 Super User Posted February 27, 2015 Shame ... I heard these happening with the Veritas 1.0's. I was considering buying a 2.0. Not after this post. Quote

Heard about the guides doing the same thing? I only heard of the 1.0s breaking. The news are supposed to be a lot stronger that's why I pulled the trigger Quote

Super User Felix77 Posted February 28, 2015 Super User Posted February 28, 2015 If you really want to get one, get one right before you go fishing. If it breaks, return it to BPS. Nearest BPS is 2 hours away. Not worth doing that. Plenty of other options out there. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted February 28, 2015 Super User Posted February 28, 2015 Looks like they still haven't fixed the insert problem from the Gen 1 rods. I fix lots of them! Quote
Cgrinder Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Should take a week or so. I had a Veracity with a bad guide and it was handled quickly. Quote
SwampLife Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 Should take a week or so. I had a Veracity with a bad guide and it was handled quickly. Awesome news. That's really good to hear! Can you tell me how did they handle it? Quote
RustyShackleford Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 This is really making me itch. Snow still around. Last week's weather means another 3 weeks before the water warms back up for fishable waters. I want to put this rod through the rigors. Quote
*Hank Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Man! I was about to buy one glad I didn't, I've never been an Abu guy, And I'm not a big fan of pure fishing ether. Quote
Diggy Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Awesome news. That's really good to hear! Can you tell me how did they handle it? They'll probably just ship you one UPS for free, (most Ive ever paid was $10) and let you keep the original rod. You can take the bad rod to a rod repair place and fix the guides and end up with 2 rods. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Whether this was an anomaly or a common problem with this rod, I can't answer. In 60 years of freshwater fishing I've had 1 guide (a tip) that needed to be replaced and that was after years of use. In saltwater having a guide rust is something that doesn't raise an eyebrow, it happens. Abu generally has outstanding customer service, IMO this should be a warranty claim. Quote
tstone Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Abu is one of the better companies as far as customer service. Give them a chance to make it right. Quote
SwampLife Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Sounds good hopefully they will contact me this week Quote
