InfamousBG Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 So when do you guys realisticly believe ice out will happen in New England? Mainly around Southern NH and MA? I have no clue after this winter. Quote
Smokinal Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Well, I'm in southern Maine and I see water getting soft around the second week of April. Not unless some sun/rain Gods shine on us in March. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I am going to guess and say around April 16th I will be fishing in my boat for the first time of the year. Quote
InfamousBG Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 I am hoping March get at least 2 weeks of 50 degree days to melt this awful stuff. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 2, 2015 Super User Posted March 2, 2015 In years past I've launched around the 3rd. week in March, but with this winter, I doubt that will be the reality. Let's hope by early April at least! Quote
jjconnaire Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 im at candlewood lake ct and im hoping to get on the water in early-mid april Quote
llPa1nll Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I usually am able to get out by the 3rd week of March. I am down in Southern NH, not far from Ma border. This is what the boat launch looked like in late November. I went ice fishing on Sunday for a few and took the picture of the boat launch. I personally don't see me getting out until maybe the 1st or 2nd week of April. What the launch looked like yesterday. Even if I could get out this is what my boat looks like at the moment its under the green tarp. Quote
MainelyBASS Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I get claustrophobic just thinking about how much time is left until I can get in the boat, it hurts.6 weeks is a long ways away, and that seems like the early shot at some fishing. 1 Quote
Nashua Nev Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 i am hoping my Nashua river will be open by the last week of March. as soon as the dam breaks up and the water starts flowing it should break up enough of the river that i can get in and get part way up the river. Quote
BaitMonkey1984 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Last week of March would be good. I pick up the boat April 1, and need a few days to get a coat of wax on the ranger and get it all loaded up. Quote
carpflyguy Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 My guess is April 10 I will be able to fish somewhere in MA. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted March 7, 2015 Super User Posted March 7, 2015 I'm just south of Boston and the bay looks like I could walk to the Aquarium. I'm figuring by the end of Tax season. Farmer's Almanac says we're in for a colder-than normal March. http://m.almanac.com/weather/longrange/zipcode/02111 Could mean pressure from Bait Monkey. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 7, 2015 Super User Posted March 7, 2015 Let's just hope the spring thaw is gradual, even though most of us would like to snow gone tomorrow. Have to think about that Ct. River and flooding. A slow thaw is better for everyone, even if it pushes the start date out a week or two later than normal. 2 Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I wouldn't mind it to melt quickly. High water spring fishing conditions usually mean great fishing for me. Athough I do not wish damaging flooding anywhere. High water flows in the rivers and high water in all the lakes and ponds makes for some of the best fishing I have had. Quote
llPa1nll Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I really don't want my fishing gear to have water front access in the basement. Quote

If the snow melts too fast, you're not going to be able to be out on the CT river for a while due to dangerous conditions Quote
carlm01 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Any recommendations for fishing in the billerica area , Usually fish out of a pontoon but bought a 16ft boat this year ? Quote
Zach Nute Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I'm in Eastern CT and we have ponds breaking up now. We have a couple where the main channels are thawed.. But this only seems to be happening with the lakes with good water flow...! I'll be out on the water in 2 weeks! Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted March 24, 2015 Super User Posted March 24, 2015 im not sure about where I live but im going fishing in nj this weekend. ill be going down every weekend to fish until ice out up here`! Quote

MainelyBASS Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I don't need complete ice out, I only need a soft ice and I will take care of the ice out part, just like I did in early January. I have an aluminum bass boat with a 150HP engine that I will use to make ice disappear. 1 Quote
