snyper77 Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I own a candle shop and have lots of candle molds. Well, it just hit me, I can buy lure molds and pour those as well! I know everything about candlemaking, but nothing about lure making. Please help. I want to pour my own Senkos, Creature baits, and maybe Brush Hogs. I want to use the best ingredients for good, soft baits. I may even bag'em up and sell them, just like my candles. Where do I start? Who sells molds, plastic, dyes, glitter, etc? Thanks!!! Quote
snyper77 Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 Yeow! $160 for a Senko mold? That's a little steep. Certainly, I would want the 10 cavity (who wants to just pour 2 worms?). Gosh, $160 is a bit much. Anyone know of other options for molds that are "just as good"? Also, how many 5" senkos will a gallon of plastic make? Thanks! http://www.del-mart.com/shop/product.php?productid=16852&cat=306&page=1 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted April 16, 2008 Super User Posted April 16, 2008 go to www.tackleunderground.com for info on what and how You can get components at Jann's netcraft, Stamina Inc., Barlows, and Ztackle just to name a few places. A gallon will make more than you will want to pour. Do a search here and find out how to make your own 2 part molds from plaster of Paris. It will cost you less than $5 and you can have any size you want. Quote
Basshole18 Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 lurecraft . com they have tons of molds and they are around 10-20$. Most have one flat side but I personally use these molds and they are excellent. Quote
SENKOSAM Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I agree - lurecraft.com is a nice company to get started with, as is M-F Mfg. ( http://www.fishingworld.com/M-F-Manufacturing/Contacted.tmpl) Delmart has some good molds, but service has been a problem as well as the plastic he sells. Making plaster molds (one or two part) isn't hard after a few attempts and plaster is the cheapest to use. This site has a few articles on how-to and what is needed to get started (2 are mine). Quote
