OntarioFishingGuy Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Most of the guys up here prefer to target steelhead with float fishing techniques. I much prefer using lures like Kwikfish and Vibrax spinners. I also like casting off piers and rocks with Little Cleos. Its a very good technique when fishing around pressured fish, because the fish have probably seen a lot of roe and beads, but they probably dont see many lures. Another great place to use lures is when sight fishing steehead in small, clear, shallow creeks. I use a 10'6 rod for larger rivers and off piers and rocks, and a 7-8 foot rod for the small creeks. Give this a try on your local steelhead rivers and you may be surprised at how many fish it catches. PS. It works on salmon and browns too. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 1, 2015 Global Moderator Posted March 1, 2015 Whenever I go to the White River in Arkansas, about the only thing I throw at the trout are jerkbaits, not little ones either. There's guys that throw 6" Huddleston swimbaits at those trout down there. Quote
