ABW Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I fish small texas rigs on my 6'8" MH X-fast Powell 683. It's just a touch heavier than a medium, but not a true medium heavy. Quote
Penguino Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 7'0 medium heavy fast action Okuma c3-40x Spinning rod Quote
robster80 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 powell max 683c. tho it may become my dedicated senko rod for this year Quote
bassinnoobie Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Sounds like medium heavey is the rod of choice Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 27, 2015 Super User Posted February 27, 2015 I use MF, MXF, and MH for TX rigging. 6'6" is the longest I currently fish. Quote
ABW Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Sounds like medium heavey is the rod of choice It all depends on the cover you're fishing and the size of t-rig Quote
Matthew2000 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 It all depends on the cover you're fishing and the size of t-rigA 7' MH is the best all around IMO. Quote

Super User WRB Posted February 27, 2015 Super User Posted February 27, 2015 The Loomis GLX853C JWR has long been the standard that other worm rods are compared to.The rod is: 7'1", 3 power med/hvy, fast action. The Loomis 3 power is closer to a Dobyn's DX704C 4 power heavy, power ratings are not equal between mfr's. You need to be able to effectively cast 3/16 oz weight with a 6" worm up to 3/8 oz weight with 9" worm and get a good hook set using 3/0-5/0 size worms hooks using 12-15 lb test line. Your budget determines exactly what rod you can afford. Tom Quote
kikstand454 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 7'mh/f is generally the answer. Its what I use. I like a little more spring in the tip than my jig rod. ... but that's subjective/ personal preference. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 27, 2015 Super User Posted February 27, 2015 I use a 6'6" H with a fast tip. I like some backbone fishing in heavy cover. You may not always need it, but it is good to have just in case. Quote
