HawgBoss44 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 For my frogging setup. ..I have a skeet Reese heavy cover baitcasting rod and a Shimano Cardiff with 80lb hi vis yellow power pro braid. Thing rips and casts frogs out a country mile. Is it worth upgrading to the calcutta? Only difference I see.is a few more bearings and a steeper price tag . Any real advantages with the calcutta over the cardiff? Quote
Super User WRB Posted February 26, 2015 Super User Posted February 26, 2015 Calcutta B series offers better bearings, drag, slightly faster retreive ratios and better crank handle, stronger frame, doesn't come in 300 size however. You can upgrade the Cardiff bearings, drag and crank handle, can't increase the gear ratio or improve the frame. Keep in mind you are fresh water bass fishing. $100 difference, only you can make that choice. Tom Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 26, 2015 Super User Posted February 26, 2015 I own & fish with both! The drags are the same The handle makes no difference The gears of the Calcutta will fit into the Cardiff The only real difference is the Calcutta is cold forged & the Cardiff is die cast. Quote
