5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Let's say for instance the live well on your bass boat is broken and you just boarded the door shut and put carpet over it because it would've been serious time, money, and trouble to fix it. Is there such thing as an external live well like you would put elsewhere on the boat? Like a cooler size one with hoses and connect to the battery? Quote
Dogmatic Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Any Cabelas, BPS, Walmart ect. sells aerators systems that allow you to convert coolers into live wells. I use one on my little tin boat. Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 That's it? So basically I can convert a big rectangular plastic bin into a home made live well with an aerator? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 24, 2015 Super User Posted February 24, 2015 That's it? So basically I can convert a big rectangular plastic bin into a home made live well with an aerator? Yes, that is all a boat livewell is with a drain. Quote
Matthew2000 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 But, get mater from that lake and make sure it stays cool. Put ice cubes in it to keep the fish alive. Quote
scyounggun Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I use a 120 quart cooler with a bilge pump feeding a spray bar in the top. I use an aquarium thermometer to control the temp and do my best to match the lake. Quote

It's quite a challenge with a 5 fish limit though. Especially when you forget to put cull buoys on. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 25, 2015 Global Moderator Posted February 25, 2015 If you're going to do it I wouldn't seal your livewell up though. That would be a ton of space to waste that you could be using for storage instead. 1 Quote
Mr_Scrogg Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 The money you spend on a big enough cooler, aerator, etc... Couldn't you just fix the old live well? Quote
Matthew2000 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 The money you spend on a big enough cooler, aerator, etc... Couldn't you just fix the old live well? You have a boat without a livewell. Quote
Mr_Scrogg Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 He said he has a live well, it's just not working properly. Quote
Matthew2000 Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 He said he has a live well, it's just not working properly. He has this boat but has to keep top secret uranium materials in his live well. Better ? Quote
