Hellbilly Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Does anyone remember handmade lures by Tommy Poe? He also wrote a book on live bait back in the 40's. He is my great-great uncle. I have three crankbaits and the book he wrote and will post some pictures when I can. Quote
jrhennecke Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Did he make those Poe crankbaits? I think they were wood? Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 The last Bassmaster Issue I got I read about Boyd Duckett fishing one of those for a brief moment in the "day on the lake" article. If it's the same Poe I'm thinking of. All it said was "he tied on a Poe's Crankbait" and I thought to myself it must be one of those prototype lures or custom lures these guys give input into building, or they found a real good crafty lure designer and took one of his hands. Anyway I'd like to know too, pics would be awesome. I take it these things are hard to come by? Quote
IneedAnewScreenName-3271 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Last year Cabelas had a whole bargin bin filled with old Poe's style baits. These were so rough, I doubt they were originals...just using the name. Quote

D3 Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 You have some resal treasures there. Be sure to pass them on to the little ones for future showings. I love old fishing and hunting stuff. That is when it was real basic. D3 Quote
