I don't have much helpful advice to offer. I've fished it more than a few times and been skunked most of them. The handful of smallies I've caught have been with rage craws on a crig and drop shotted in about 25 fow in late summer. They are good size too.

They do have tiger muskies which I haven't targeted yet. But they can be big and fun.

There is a big fishing forum with a utah section that has more specific info. Check that out.

Do you happen to have the link for the Utah fishing forum thread? I've fished Pineview a hand full of times. Most I've ever pulled out was 3 fish in a 4 hour period. The buddy I was with had a spinning rig on 8lb flouro with a wacky rigged senko drop shot and pulled up a 3 pound smallie in about 35 foot of water of  rip rap located near the d**n in the no-wake zone.  It made that trip worth it, but otherwise it's been tough. Joined this forum seeking anyone that goes after bass in Utah.

Fish it early in the year. Every lake in Utah gets a ton of fishing pressure, and once school is out, that place turns into a zoo with all of the pleasure boat traffic. The state is focused on the Tiger Muskie fishing primarily, so I wouldn't fish with any high end tackle in there. Over the years, I have seen good smallmouth and largemouth come out of pineview, but Ive never had or seen any high number days.
