I just purchased a new combo for fishing jigs this year. I ended up with a 7ft 3in duckett ghost and a 7.1:1 pro qualifier. I'm mainly going to use this for all around jig fishing (casting, pitching, swimming.) I live in PA where we have a variety of cover (rocks, docks, wood, grass.) What would you guys suggest for line to use? Straight braid, braid with leader, flouro, copolymer??

Thanks for the help

15# Seaguar AbrazX is what I'd go with.  I can't get past how loud braid sounds going thru the guides.  That's just me though.

I'm in Ohio (and I'd assume we fish similar waters) and I use braid for my jig combo. Mainly because of water clarity. Most of the lakes I fish are crazy clear. On the other hand my buddy fishes pretty much only braid, we've both caught very nice fish on jigs. At the end of the day do what is going to give you the most confidence. Which for me, is Sunline Sniper FC :)

For the Ghost rod, I would advise against using braid. The guides are CHROME which get grooved very easily. I would just go with some straight Seagaur Fluorocarbon.

I'd make that judgement by what kind of water you're fishing. I like braid to a leader for casting and pitching.

I'm confused. Did you mean to say that you use fluorocarbon on your jig rig?

Whoops.... Yes, that is exactly what I meant. That's why it pays to reread your posts! Ha

Sorry for the confusion and thanks for catching that RW!

Braid with leader is what I'd go with.

Braid does well in grass and even wood but it's not very abrasion resistant against rocks but fluoro is. Also when you get snagged and have to break off you'll only loose your leader. Fluoro also has great slack line sensitivity. So you'll get that advantage too when they hit it on the fall.

If its anything deeper than 20ft, go with straight fluoro for increased bite detection. Fluoro sinks so it reduces bowing of your line

Anything shallower than 20ft, go with braid with fluoro leader

Actually braid is more sensitive than fluoro at any depth and will give you a better hook set  when fishing deep.  To the OP I would suggest the best of both for the clear water you'll be fishing, braid/fluoro leader.
