They could schedule it in Florida easily in February. 50 boats wouldn't create the lock situation that 200 boats would as in the past open or up coming FLW event. (Not counting the spectator boats or camera boats. The nice thing about the chain of lakes, the spectator or camera boats can launch from lower lakes in the chain and wait for the pro they want to follow when they come out of the canals or river. )

We have had the classic before on Toho, Kissimmee Chain of lakes.A grind would be the summer months, with 98 degree to 100 degree heat. Brutal, but we fish it. My personal best was on a 98 degree day tournament, on a crank bait. nearly 8 pounds. October would be nice, but I agree, these are the best of the best, and they will manage to bring them in.

I'm slightly on the fence as to if they should move it again or not. On one hand the Classic was originally put together to be "the test of the best" obviously what they've been through the last few years has been a test. The lake, no matter the conditions still provides the same challenges for everyone so it doesn't matter if it's sunny and 75 or if it's so cold that the lake is icing over in spots.

On the other hand, it'd be nice to see the Classic in a few more locations around the US where they're limited by climate now. Although, I'm not sure what the attendance number would be. The 2000 Classic was a fall tournament held in Chicago and there were very few spectators. The weigh in at Soldier Field had a pathetic turn out. Not that it'd be like that every time but it was the first time they had it this far north and it was a flop.

I guess either way though it's still fishing so there's going to be an interesting aspect to it, at least there is for me.

As for the date, I don't see why the Classic needs to be a set time of year for the rest of history. It could be moved around the calendar a bit in order to open up more water. I know that from a marketing standpoint, they'd love to have a weekend to point to every year, but I think they'll find that the bass fishing community will eventually be more demanding about them spreading the wealth a bit.

As for the tournament being a grind? Look at golf. They set the "Majors" up so that often only one or two players even break par. They don't have their premiere events on courses where you have to shoot 63 or 64 every day to have a chance. I like for the Classic to be that way to a degree. Tournaments where there are a lot of different techniques in play as guys try to solve the puzzle.

October, in the North would be nice for a change. It's beautiful up here in the fall, and the fishing is outstanding. It takes 20+ lbs to even be in contention.

If anyone thinks mid day mid summer isnt a grind, id like to go fishing with you. Ive had days where its so hot I debated bringing an umbrella to stand under. So hot, when you weigh in and get in the ac of the car you think you might not make it home youre so exhausted.  Coolers full of drinks and trying to stay cool is just as hard as staying warm. You can only shed so much, you can always put more on. Heck at some point you gotta stop shedding clothing or risk being burned/fined. I cant run a propane fired air conditioner to cool off.
