These guys are getting hammered by the elements in all of the recent Bassmaster Classics !!

Fans don't want to see these guys fish with broken electronics , frozen line guides , sleet all over their deck , etc. plus it's hard to root for your favorite guy when he is dressed as an Eskimo .... I say move the Classic back at least a week to the end of Feb. in hopes of having  a higher percentage of warmer weather for these guys to put on a real show !!

I disagree, respectfully of course, I like the fact, that adverse weather can & does have real impacts on sport fishing.. No hill to high for a climber! These guys are some of the best in the business. I appreciate this foul weather tournament and the guys that put it up, and those that fished it! Great tournament!!!

The elements are what separates the men from the boys, but it would be nice to see the Classic in a spring or summer environment like Ish Monroe had said.

I like seeing the best in the biz. fishing under not ideal situations every once in a while. Generally speaking they have the best equipment, newest lures that the fish have never seen, fishing the country's best lakes, and good conditions. I think it is more relatable for the average fisherman and more enjoyable to see them grind it out, and have to figure the fish out  rather than just flat knock the snot outta them. Great classic, I really thought Bobby Lane had a chance and it was cool to see how excited Chris was for his brother. Casey didn't buckle under all that pressure and finished this deal out- I hope he savors every minute of the next year.

Anything that "Ish" says is self serving.

Anyone can catch the fish when they're biting everything you put in front of them. I enjoy watching the pros struggle and grind it out.

Bass fishing is not NFL football.  Fishing is about spring time and summer time.  If they are going to hold the greatest bass fishing tournament then I want to see it take place during the prime of the season, spring or maybe summer but most likely spring.  And when I say spring I'm talking T-shirt type weather or light jacket weather.  Not the weather those guys had to face this weekend.

But I will admit it was fun to see them fish in tough conditions.

Why?  My top 3 days on the water were days when everyone else refused to go.  #4 best day occurred when it was 23 degrees at launch.  #5 occurred when snow was building up on the front deck.  IMHO, this was the best classic since Pittsburgh.

The first classics were held in October. A beautiful month to be on the water.

I don't think it hurts the sport one iota to see the supposed greatest anglers in the world trying to catch fish under less than perfect conditions.

If NASCAR drivers can survive having to make right hand turns several times a year, then it can't be too much to expect that BASS anglers be forced to compete when all the fish aren't locked down of those funny looking shiny spots.  The current trend of holding classics in gulf coast states during the early spring does absolutely nothing to prove that these guys can overcome the same conditions that 3/4 of the nation's anglers must do every year.

I live in Pennsylvania where we don't have open water from December until the end of March. I love the fact that these guys struggle with the cold during the classic, because they should. It's the big show! It should be the toughest one of all. Secondly, yes, it's cold, but they're still fishing. I don't have that luxury for a quarter of the year. I don't feel bad for them. Welcome to my world.

I agree. I do think they should move it around to different seasons some of the time just to get a change, but not to make it any easier. They should do one on a desert lake in the middle of summer! lol

The somewhat adverse conditions made it a LOT better, they are the best in the business let them prove it when conditions are tough.

Totally agree

I don't like it, simply because it eliminates huge chunks of the country from ever hosting a Classic.  Hope you never want to see a classic above the mason dixon line again.  The midwest is out, too.  Not a big deal I guess, but I don't know why the wouldn't want to have their biggest tourny all over the country instead of 6 or 7 states.

I thought is was a great tournament.  Very technical tournament in my eyes, it was more of game planning and being at the right spots in the morning and towards weigh ins.  I would like to see extended fishing hours say till 4 or 4:30.  A lot of fish where caught towards the end of fishing time.  Extend it more, it really could have changed things

But, I learned a lot, loved to see the mid day dead time I have during my tournaments. I guess comfort in numbers watching that.

naturally, it would have been great to weigh in like 80 lbs over the three days, but this was a grind tourney.  Mother nature did not give us optimal weather conditions for huge sacks.

Still had 20+ pound bags.  I liked the tourny and the coverage online.  I also like the Feb Classic.  My club does an Oct classic and I have tried for years to change it.  In Oct all the bass around here are at the release ramps.  Boring.  Just a round robin around the release area.  Looks like a merry go round of boats.

The only problem I have with the date is that Northern waters will never get a shot at hosting the classic. I would love to see a classic out of Lake Champlain, Ontario etc.

Same. But I would rather they be grinds than hog fest's.

I would like to see somewhere they haven't been before. Like Susquehanna river.haha. just kidding. But somewhere off their normal radar.

How about an October classic? It would open up the north, and you might get a few cold classics, but the fish would be feeding. Indontnthi kntheres a state that couldn't host a successful October classic.

Yes the pros should be able to perform well in all cinductions, but why make it in February? It would be more interesting with even bigger fish caught more frequently and less frozen rod guides. I want to see the best of the best compete in the most likely conditions to catch bass. I don't think its necessary these last two years to have these freezing conditions. Just my .02.

aside from eliminating the Northern areas of the country from the classic, there is nothing wrong with the adverse conditions that february brings!

Two words for why they moved the Classic to February,  BIG FISH.

Out of the ordinary cold for the southern US this year.  Still,  a good Classic.  I like to see the showcase real fish catching ability in tough conditions.

Several states couldn't have one in October. Kansas couldn't in any month because our lakes suck and the biggest one is only 16,000 acres. On top of that, October is probably the hardest month out of the warmer months to catch fish. The lakes here just get into a funk in October and the big fish all but disappear.
