papajoe222 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I just finished a rod build for lighter weight tubes and jigs that I'll be pairing up with one of my Sols and was wondering what the lightest/thinnest line is that any of you have used with this reel. I'm more concerned with line jumping the gap between the spool and side plates than I am with it digging into the spool. Thanks. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted February 21, 2015 Super User Posted February 21, 2015 I've got 8# mono on one and 10# mono on another. The 10# will be coming off for lighter line. Possibly 6# depending on what rod I put it on. Looking at the reel, I don't think you will have a problem with 6# line. I am using 6# mono on a TD-Z 105H and 2 older "gold" Carbonlites. Never had a problem. Seriously doubt you will either. Quote
Super User Angry John Posted February 21, 2015 Super User Posted February 21, 2015 #20 braid or 6lb copoly. Both were fine. Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted February 21, 2015 Super User Posted February 21, 2015 I fish a custom Alphas 103 (same platform as the Sol). I have fished 10# flourocarbon on it without issues. Willing to bet it would handle 8# or so. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted February 21, 2015 Super User Posted February 21, 2015 I often used #6 of various line makers ( mono & copoly) on my TDX, and my Sol BC reels, I had no problems whatsoever. Quote
Cgrinder Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 8 lb. Fluoro with the stock spool. I have a 105H spool in it now that will be getting 6 lb. as soon as the ice melts. So, June. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted February 21, 2015 Super User Posted February 21, 2015 I have a few Alphas, and they handle #6 mono or flouro with no problems. Haven't tried 4. Quote

Reels with 8# include, but not limited to, Purple Alphas, Curado 51E, TD-S, Fuego, Sol, 1600 Morrum & 1600 Black Max and Alphas ito 103ai. Have never had a problem with any. You wouldn't either.
