Let me tell you dude that Tarpon was HUGE!! I thought it was a whale (being sarcastic) but for real it was BIG! That sucker would've broke my freshwater rod if I would've hooked him. I have a saltwater fishing rod, pen reel and a uglystick rod that I'm going to take out there and see if I could catch that beast.

Yeah sometimes it's best to let them be lol. I saw a few rolling way out on 8th street canal but all I had with me was a medium spinning rod and my medium heavy with a pq. I probably would have been able to bring it in on the medium heavy except for the fact that my spool was at half and I've never caught Tarpon.

Snook I do catch and actively go out fishing for em. My successful snook lures have been top water poppers, Storm mullet swimbait and a chrome minnow i cant remember the brand.

As far as Peacocks, I've only caught 2. One small one on a tiny spinner bait and one on a big bulky black and blue football head jig with a big trailer at sunset. I knew a school of them were there and so I kept casting past them and bringing the baits by them. Tried like 4 things until I swam the big jig right through the school. This guy hit it.

That particular lure is discontinued, I can't find any.  Try the Rapala flat rap, it's chrome and it's a fairly shallow runner.  More important than the lure is having patience and let it happen, it can take time they can be very finicky.

I didn't do much myself this morning, caught 1 jack at the beach then stopped for some peas, no strikes.

Thanks man! I'm going to probably head to the same place tomorrow to try my luck again.

Nice pea! Thanks for the tip with snook. It would be pretty cool if I could catch one.

Are you Flying or driving? I've got extra spinning set-ups you can borrow while your here. All my baitcasters are lefty but if you bring your own reel, I have extra rods you can use to. I live just a few miles from where your staying. Just lmk..

We're flying, otherwise it wouldn't be an issue. I've borrowed an ancient travel spinning rod from a buddy that fits in my luggage so I'll have that one rod and reel. I might just take you up on the offer and bring an extra baitcaster with me.

Blue Basser also check out reel deal adventures. He is a guide on foot that I'm assuming has prices a lot lower then on a boat. He specializes in peas

I would give these three land based guides a call to put you on not only a lot of peacock bass , but some huge peacock bass.

Chris Licato/Swampgod Outdoors (catches the biggest peacocks in S. Florida consistently)

Adam Rizi/ ReelDeal Adventures

Hai Truong/Urban Miami Peacock Fishing (knows more about peacock bass fishing than any person I know)

All these guys are friends of mine and I have fished with them. They have the local peacock bass fishing dialed in!

Good luck

I got a couple suggestions from members on places and baits to try and even was loaned a couple rods and reels to use for the peas. So we just tried a couple places from shore until we found one with peacocks and managed to catch a few. Another member was even nice enough to take us out with him in his boat in the Everglades for largemouth and we caught a bunch of bass and different fish. We caught bass, chiclids, bowfin, warmouth, bluegill, an oscar, and a pickeral. Saw a ton of gators and got to go on a really cool (and fast), boat ride through the canals.

Enjoyed meeting you guys.

I know a guy that lives in my condo that all he does is snakehead fishing. He drives up to Coral Springs to catch them. If I see him I'll ask him some questions and let you know.

I'd be interested to know where he catches snakeheads myself.  I hit up Tamarac and Coral Springs all the time, but have only been able to catch a few small ones.
