Super User Scott F Posted February 16, 2015 Super User Posted February 16, 2015 Anybody know if these are really good or just hype? Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted February 16, 2015 Super User Posted February 16, 2015 Are these the Fuji/Anglers Resource blanks? Quote
Super User Scott F Posted February 16, 2015 Author Super User Posted February 16, 2015 I guess so. A local custom rod builder is making a rod using a Point blank and singing its praises. He's getting $750. I never heard of them before. It's supposed to be a new way to make blanks? Quote
Hogsticker Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Look at that other forum under the custom Rod section. Long thread about them. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted February 16, 2015 Super User Posted February 16, 2015 He's getting $750 for a build on a sub $200 blank? Wow. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted February 16, 2015 Author Super User Posted February 16, 2015 I never said the guy who is buying it was some kind of genius. He is someone who is well off and asked to have the best rod made that he could get. He has no idea how much the blank costs. He thinks he's getting the best there is. How close is he with this blank? Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted February 16, 2015 Super User Posted February 16, 2015 What other forum are you talking about? I can't find it. Is it here on BR? Tackle Tour website in the forums there is a custom rod section. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted February 16, 2015 Super User Posted February 16, 2015 What I've managed to glean since their introduction in 2013 is that they are on their 3rd manufacturer. If they're shopping them around that hard, your guess is as good as mine as to what you're getting. Kinda like the the early Kistlers. They were built on Rogue, Rainshadow and at least one more, but the name has slipped my mind. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 17, 2015 Super User Posted February 17, 2015 Sounds like you get a free cup of koolaid with that $750. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted February 17, 2015 Super User Posted February 17, 2015 I can't even get $600 for a SCV with Fuji TiSic guides! He must be building with gold plated reelseats and Platinum thread! Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted February 17, 2015 Super User Posted February 17, 2015 I was once very interested in these. Not so much now. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted March 8, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 8, 2015 The rod was donated to my club's fundraiser. I don't exactly how much the guy who bought it and donated it actually paid but the the guy who built it also donated his time. It was designed to be the lightest rod possible. These are the specs; Blank- Point PB661LF-250, 6-10 lb. 1/32-1/4 oz. (spinning) Guides- Fuji Torzite/Titanium Reel seat- Fuji Grips- EVA – Grade A I got to handle the rod briefly. It is by far the lightest rod I have ever held. I use mostly spinning rods in the medium light to light range and this was a feather compared to other rods I've used. Everyone at our event was amazed how light it was. These Point Blanks are sure to be seen a lot more in rods made for guys who have to have the lightest rods around. I'll get to fish with it in May when the guy who won it will be with me for a week up in Northern WI on a fishing trip. I'll report back then to let you know how it fishes. Quote
