paul. Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 super thankful to have a great friend who will take me to the river and let me fish out of his nice boat every once in a while. even more thankful to have a great wife who says "go fishing" on valentine's day. this short lil' cinder block of a bass went over 6.5 lbs. and couldn't have been 20 inches long. that's a good healthy tn river fish for ya right there. but i can almost guarantee today will end my unbelievable run of luck, or at least put it on hold for quite a while. calling for up to 5" of snow, hi temps in the 30's, and lows in the teens for the next week or more. go ahead and laugh at me northern guys, but i gotta draw the line right there. oh well, it was good while it lasted. 6 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 15, 2015 Super User Posted February 15, 2015 Great start to the year! That is a beauitiful fish. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted February 15, 2015 Super User Posted February 15, 2015 You've likely already caught more fish over 5 than I'll catch all year. Having 3 kids under 4 puts a crimp in my fishin' time 2 Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted February 15, 2015 Super User Posted February 15, 2015 That's better than a traditional valentine. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted February 17, 2015 Super User Posted February 17, 2015 Another great fish Paul ! Yeah - weather up here on the Plateau has shut me down as well. Ice storm yesterday, snowing and 12 degrees right now and sub-freezing temps expected all this week. Water is probably hard by now but I don't know as I can't drive to a lake to find out... No fishing for me for about a week I expect... Quote
Super User senile1 Posted February 17, 2015 Super User Posted February 17, 2015 Very nice short, fat, healthy fish. Quote
CJ Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 That's a nice chunk Paul! Glad to see you haven't lost your touch bud. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted February 19, 2015 Super User Posted February 19, 2015 I have never caught a fish with a black tail like that. Is this water super clear ? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted February 19, 2015 Super User Posted February 19, 2015 Nice Bass Paul ~ Congrats A-Jay Quote
paul. Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 e I have never caught a fish with a black tail like that. Is this water super clear ? no. maybe a foot of visibility at best. and i don't think the water clarity has anything to do with the spots. i could be wrong though. lots of fish on the TN river chain are spotted up like that. and i have caught 'em other places with spots too. sometimes the spots are on their bodies. other times on their fins. there is actually a name for this condition, but i forget what it is. i like catching one with distinctive spots like that though. gives it some character. plumworm Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I have caught quite a few LM on the Mississippi (pools 9-10) with the same dark spots. I have several pictures of them but I have no idea how to post them here. They are on an old concept called "pictures" that appear on little 4X6 or 6X8 pieces of paper. They were taken with a $10 waterproof disposable camera from (gasp) Walmart. I might have had a cell phone then, but it was a phone. And that was only 6-8years ago. Quote
