And what about abrasion on a thinner line?

I'm not sure I see the benefits.

I'm going to guess that the new line will be similar to the same diameter as the 40lb Sufix I have on one of my rods (in 50lb anyways). I have no problems with digging in unless I really put heat on it. I guess you could fit more line on your reel but not something I'm really looking for in bass fishing. It should offer a little less friction on the cast as well so may cast a bit further, again not a big issue for me.

I can not think of one single time, in the 10-12 years or so I have been using powerpro, that ive had a fish breakoff. And I use the same spool for YEARS at a time. Fresh AND salt.

To each their own I guess.

I believe my brother-in-law can say the same thing.  All he uses is 40# PP, the Original.  Reason?  Because he no longer loses any lures....so he tells me.  Far as I know he isn't even familiar with the term "wind knot".  I've had them, but apparently it was due to over-filling the spool (on spinning reels).

If it's 25% thinner will 50# dig on a baitcaster?

Plenty on here state they use 10# and 20# braid on b/c reels with no digging in.  Wish I could say the same.  Received a new-to-me b/c reel with 30# 832.  First thing that had to be done was make quite a few casts pulling out line after each cast to free up more that had dug into the spool.  I have some TUF Line Supercast on one reel to try.  However, it has a larger diameter due to its coating than other 20# lines.  Plus I haven't used it enough yet to form an opinion on how it will work.
