Mista bass Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 If money was no object and you could only have one combo, what would it be? and why? Quote
Fishinthefish Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I'd probably take a MH G Loomis NRX with Fast action, super light weight, super reliable, super sensitive, super expensive. As far as reel, there is so many different directions to go. I love the Shimano Core, I find it difficult personally to actually enjoy the more expensive reel setups in comparison. It's just a quality product, so I would most likely go with the 101 lefty core. 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 I believe I already have it. A med 8/17 spinning rod (Redbone) size 20 reel (Soron) with 15# braid, been catching bass for years with it, although I mainly fish ponds with lighter gear for bass. I catch snook, jacks and array of other inshore species on this set up, it's good multi purpose outfit. Only 1 combo, this would be it. Quote

I had the rod, and reel but at different times. Unfortunately one is at the bottom of Lake Michigan, the other disappeared one day. 1 Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 Man after my own heart. I had the rod, and reel but at different times. Unfortunately one is at the bottom of Lake Michigan, the other disappeared one day. Ouch! I'd probably take a Megabass Destroyer Phase 3 with a Shimano Antares on it. Quote
Preytorien Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Probably one of these 3 combos.... Poison Adrena / Antares Stella / G Loomis NRX Croix Legend Extreme / Abu Revo MGXtreme Any one of those would make my day Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 A 7' med spinning rod a size 30 reel with 3 spools braid, and 2 monos 4lb and 6lb yozuri the braid would be 20test Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 Too many to just pick one dream combo. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 This is a GREAT rig: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/dhc7-primmus-review.html Quote
Super User deep Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 Dobyns 867/ Calcutta 401TE. Have the rod, looking to upgrade the reel. Why? I can fish everything from the 6" to 10" baits on it. Pretty versatile rod. Quote
The Next KVD Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 A Shimano Chronarch D7 with a St. Croix 7' MH/F Legend Elite. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 I'd love to have an Abu Garcia MGXtreme on a my St. Croix Legend Xtreme that would be my dream combo. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 Well, if money were no object, I'd probably have a Shimano Stella 1000. For a rod, not sure. Crazy as it may sound, I love my new white Carbonlite, and if there were one as light as that but more sensitive, probably that one. Otherwise, I'm quite happy with my Stradics, Chronarch 50e reels, and Carbonlite rods. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 If money was no object I wouldn't stop myself with one combo. 4 Quote

Hogsticker Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 TD-ito 103hl, upgraded drag/bearings, and an SV spool as a 2nd spool. One with braid, the other Sunline Defier. Custom Rod built on an Nfc blank with Fuji titanium torzites. Built by savacs. Don't know if you guys have seen any of his work, but it's incredible. 1 Quote
Cgrinder Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I have a couple reels that someone could consider "the one" but for fun's sake I'll keep it hypothetical (and sub $1000). Zillion Type R on an X4 Destruction. I figure I could do everything with that, get some style points while I'm at it, and find another just like it if I dropped it in the lake or the Terrier Army got hold of it. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 If money was no object I wouldn't stop myself with one combo. Money is a problem, but I still didn't stop with one combo. Money no object I'd be looking at a Megabass rod. Why? Because I have heard they are extremely versatile. Reel? Man. Tough. Have too many favorites. No experience with expensive reels, however. Unlike Tom. Quote
adam32 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Daiwa ss 1300, st.croix legend elite 7'm/f. Versatile,light,sensitive, and super reliable. Quote
ibobpeb Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 If money were no object I'd build a private 100 acre pond stocked with trophy sized fish. I'd use a kiddie Shakespeare spiderman rod and have the time of my life. Quote
Robert Riley Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Well, I have the rod already, Dobyns Extreme DX745, pair it up with a Lew's Team Pro Speed Spool. Quote
