I've been thinking about getting one also. Anyone used both the klx and the helium 3? What are the differences between the two?

same here. concerned about the moderate fast action. is this an issue with hooksets on texas rigs?

If you're used to an extra fast you might want to step it up a power, for example if you use a medium heavy you might want to use a heavy. Personally I think mod-fast is perfect. Hookset might be a little less powerful, but you'll land a lot more fish trust me.

Agreed. I use all customs and get mod-fast actions on my jig and t-rig rods. Landing rate goes out the roof. Btw I have used some KLX's and they are definitely worth the price. Kistlers and Dobyns are my two favorite production rods.

Shame about the price increase. Still a great value and one of the best rods in that price point.

As far as how they are made, they are both North Fork Composite blanks which were designed by Gary Loomis. The klx uses the intermediate modulus blanks and the helium 3 uses a hybrid between the high and intermediate modulus. The helium 3 also has a bit more in the cosmetic department. I didn't know this till recently, so I figured I'd share.

The Rainshadow Immortal blank is on par with the NFC High Modulus blank (the KLX uses the Intermediate Modulus blank). I know where you can get a custom built on the Immortal blank for under/right at $200, if interested. I do like the KLX but the Immortal is much better IMO. Custom is the only way to go in my book.

Keep in mind that TW has %15 off sales and 10% off gift card sales several times throughout the year. You likely won't be paying $200 for these unless you need one now. :)
