BasshunterJGH Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Kistler klx series is finally available at tackle warehouse. Definitely gonna order a couple at the next sale. Quote
adam32 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I've been thinking about getting one also. Anyone used both the klx and the helium 3? What are the differences between the two? Quote
robster80 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 same here. concerned about the moderate fast action. is this an issue with hooksets on texas rigs? Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 same here. concerned about the moderate fast action. is this an issue with hooksets on texas rigs? If you're used to an extra fast you might want to step it up a power, for example if you use a medium heavy you might want to use a heavy. Personally I think mod-fast is perfect. Hookset might be a little less powerful, but you'll land a lot more fish trust me. 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 Seems like they've gone up in price. Quote

Landing rate goes out the roof. Btw I have used some KLX's and they are definitely worth the price. Kistlers and Dobyns are my two favorite production rods. Quote
robster80 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 i will probably pick up one of these nxt sale as well then. heard nothing but great things about the klx. Quote
dwong Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Shame about the price increase. Still a great value and one of the best rods in that price point. Quote
THE_Vue's Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 These new ones at TW are not the ones i like. These have new Kigan guides, No more Fuji K guides Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted February 13, 2015 Super User Posted February 13, 2015 Price sure did go up... @ 200 I guess custom is looking better all the time.. Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I've been thinking about getting one also. Anyone used both the klx and the helium 3? What are the differences between the two? As far as how they are made, they are both North Fork Composite blanks which were designed by Gary Loomis. The klx uses the intermediate modulus blanks and the helium 3 uses a hybrid between the high and intermediate modulus. The helium 3 also has a bit more in the cosmetic department. I didn't know this till recently, so I figured I'd share. Quote
JGBassinAL Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Price sure did go up... @ 200 I guess custom is looking better all the time.. The Rainshadow Immortal blank is on par with the NFC High Modulus blank (the KLX uses the Intermediate Modulus blank). I know where you can get a custom built on the Immortal blank for under/right at $200, if interested. I do like the KLX but the Immortal is much better IMO. Custom is the only way to go in my book. Cgrinder Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Keep in mind that TW has %15 off sales and 10% off gift card sales several times throughout the year. You likely won't be paying $200 for these unless you need one now. Quote
Diggy Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I wanted a full handle KLX, havent seen one in a while Quote
