Savannah Area

I am moving to the Savannah area in July and I love some Bass fishing. I was stationed at Fort Gordon a few years ago but moved to South Carolina for a little but I have always had luck in GA. I was wondering what are some good lakes or small bodies of waters around Fort Stewart that I could crush some big ones and take my son out? I no longer have my boat so I will be limited to shore fishing for a little bit.

Was stationed at Hunter AAF in Savannah for 6 years, drove down the road to Stewart all the time for fishing and hunting.  Stewart is loaded with amazing bass ponds.  I think there are over a hundred or something haha.  Go to MWR and grab a map, if I remember correctly there is one called "Trophy Bass Pond" or something like that that was always good.  I caught many 5 lbers at Stewart, a couple close to 8 and I have seen 10 and 11 lbers pulled our of their on a few occasions by other fishermen.  Good luck to you!

I am stationed here at Stewart right now and the fishing is awesome. There are a ton of ponds that are managed and even more that aren't. You can fish all year round and catch fish. When you get down here let me know and I can show you around the ponds! Google fort stewart fishing and you will find all the info you need. I just talked to Rachel at Fort Stewart fish and wildlife management and they should be posting the numbers, weights, and sizes for the ponds here soon.

I will report in July but I am coming down in April to do some recon on houses and of course my wife doesn't know yet but I am bringing the poles for some fishing recon too. mikeD1Esel I will look you up when I get there. Thanks for the help.

Do NOT overlook the saltwater fishery.  For bass fishermen, perhaps the best thing about seatrout and redfish can be caught with bass tackle.  And the reds fight better
