papajoe222 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 It seems to me that when the discussion around here gets to squarebills, StrikeKing KVD 1.5 & 2.5 get all the attention. I own a couple of each, but my XCalibur squarebills seem to outproduce them big time. Add the fact that the stock hooks are superior and I wonder why they arent' getting more recognition. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted February 12, 2015 Super User Posted February 12, 2015 Idk, I use them a lot! Best squarebill for about any money if you ask me... Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted February 12, 2015 Super User Posted February 12, 2015 I too like the XCalibur square bills. I had a lot of success with them last year when the fish were active. I even hooked up with a 40+ musky. What I did find though is these things are aggressive and push a ton of water. On a trip last year they were hot most of the week until a front hit and I could only scratch out a fish here or there. I switched to a Bandit 100 which is super subtle and caught a bunch of fish. I have thrown the KVD bait and it is also more of a finesse bait compared to the XCal, so maybe some find it to be too aggressive of a bait. Quote
Stingray23 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I like all Xcalibur baits. Very under appreciated. Quote
mjseverson24 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I have few of them and they work well, but i have more confidence in the KVD's... Mitch Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted February 12, 2015 Super User Posted February 12, 2015 The XCaliburs are by far my favorite "budget" sq bills. They are great baits. Quote
a1712 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I like them and the Lucky E Strike. I really like the big Xcaliber Wake Squarebill, like it so much I had a rod built just to throw them. Brian. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted February 12, 2015 Super User Posted February 12, 2015 I have them in the 100 size of the real craw series and Foxy Mama and oxbow bream in the 200 series. To me these are different then the 1.5 and 2.5, they are heavier and kick out more violently and if I'm just barely hooking them on the XCS I'll switch to the KVD models. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted February 12, 2015 Super User Posted February 12, 2015 I've wondered that myself. They are my go to squarebill. *** just did a review on them and they said that they seem to be a dark horse in the fishing market. I couldn't be happier with them though. I've got a bunch of them in all 3 sizes. A couple good ones that came off a XCS100 1 Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted February 12, 2015 Super User Posted February 12, 2015 Im loving the Xcalibur squarebills! Quote
Super User Munkin Posted February 12, 2015 Super User Posted February 12, 2015 They have been clearancing them around here for like $4 each. Allen Quote
FlipSide Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I guess I'm the oddball here, I picked quite a few up on sale for like 2 bucks a piece at gander last spring and they didnt produce very well for me Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 12, 2015 Super User Posted February 12, 2015 The only square bills I own say Lucky Craft or Xcalubur on them. Quote
Arobb2012 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Im interested in trying them out, but i just bought the square bill bps kit last week. I did seen them for 4 bucks a dsg the other day. Quote
papajoe222 Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 I'm going to start checking out the clearance section of my local shops because the going price for both the XCalibur and StrikeKing squarebills around here is $7. Quote
