We're in the same neck of the woods! But as many have said so many options of soft plastics and styles to use! Gain some confidence in a style and then keep expanding your horizon. In your area in clearer water I tend to lean towards your green pumpkins if it gets darker i switch to Black and Blue like this one:

Michigan guy here - senkos, fat ikas, and pit bosses work year round for me. With their powers combined, they are my triumvirate of bass slaying plastic.

In Indiana it's Senko, Senko, Senko. For me that means 5" smoke pearl blue, any of the watermelon variations or purple w/emerald flake rigged weightless on a 3/0 EWG hook.

Not for nothing but you may be thinking about this the wrong way.  I believe any/all techniques can work no matter where you are.  A lot is dependant on how you use them.  Soft plastics like senkos, finesse worms, dream shots, roboworms, craws etc. are technique specific and not region specific.  I am fortunate to travel a lot for work.  That means I get to sneak a line in a ton of states.  My "go-to's" have worked everywhere.  Those include finesse swimbaits, finesse worms, senkos, and spinnerbaits.

good luck.

I have my best luck with nearly any color 4" Senko, weightless, and Zoom's 6" U-Tail T-rigged in gourd green.

Hey Felix - have you figured out how to get your kayak in a carry-on bag yet?
