Super User tomustang Posted February 10, 2015 Super User Posted February 10, 2015 This is a follow up to the Mr Clean thread http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/150787-mr-clean-magic-eraser-cleaned-cork-examples/ I Cleaned, Filled, and Cork Sealed most of my rods. I wanted to post them all at once but have been too busy. For those of you interested what U40 Cork Sealant looks like on cork I have examples. Start off with dirty, several years of grime: Cleaned and filled: Cork Sealer Applied: Finished look: Now the coloration of the cork appears a shade darker with the Sealer applied, Some instances you can barely tell like this one, others I've done have gotten a little bit more darker. Here's an Avid that got even darker, this is Cleaned: This is Sealed: 6 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted February 10, 2015 Super User Posted February 10, 2015 Nice ~ I just did a rod last night - I don't see any reason not to use it and been doing so for several, and I mean several years - A-Jay 1 Quote
adam32 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Call me crazy but I prefer my handles with years of grime and slime like the one in the first picture. The handles look great though, nice job! What kind of filler did you use? Quote

Super User J Francho Posted February 10, 2015 Super User Posted February 10, 2015 Adam, if you seal up a brand new rod, it WILL get grimy. The difference is the bits of wood filler don't fall out and the handles don't rot. Insight have a pick of my sealed and I cleaned Avid at around three years old. I'll look. Quote
