In your opinion what is the best baitcaster you can buy for 200 dollars or less ?

All of them in between 100-200.  All of them have their advantages and disadvantages, it's all preference.  So you can fill in the blank there.  IMO all the reels in this range are solid quality period.

Lews guy will recommend a Lews, Shimano guy a Shimano, Revo guy a Revo, Daiwa guy a Daiwa.  I haven't met a reel yet I didn't like to some extent.  Picking the best would only prove it best in my opinion.  I have several that are the best.....at the time I am using them.  :teeth:  That includes all of the previously mentioned brands and some others as well.

Chronarch 50e for me.

But "best" is quite subjective. I like smaller,

lighter reels. 50e fits the bill perfectly for me.

But there are plenty of excellent options in

that price range, though. Get your hands on

'em at your local BPS, Cabelas, or local shop

and feel how they palm in your hand, the

smoothness, etc.

Got big hands, small hands? Does reel weight

bother you? Prefer larger, smaller reels, etc.?

I own Shimano, Daiwa, Quantum. 50e reels are

the most expensive I own, and about all I use

now.

Ain't that the truth?

The "new guy on the block" is Pinnacle. The staff and a few BassResource members have

written reviews on several of the new Pinnacle reels. The Primmus Xi HS is slightly above

your pricing point, but could be bought within your range on sale. This is my favorite:

Now, that's the "REEL" answer.

We're all limited by what we've used.

In the range you're asking about...

Curado I

Curado E

JM Sig

BPS PQ

Curado G

Revo S

BPS Extreme

Quantum Accurist

From a mechanical standpoint I have to agree. The $150 price point is VERY competitive. Each design has pluses and minuses but it will come down to preference and the available deal at the end of the day.

I bought a Lew's BB1HLZ from a local dealer when the fishing show rolled around. Prices at 159.99, had it shown at 140. Old man chased me down and dropped it to 130. I offered 120, Ended up at 125, 137 after tax. It's by far smoother than any Daiwa, Shimano, or Pinnacle I've picked up so far. And let me put it this way....I'm saving up to buy 3 more of them.

it depends what you want to use it for...

casting deep cranks I like the Quantum energy, smoke, or kinetic. or the Lews BB1.

pitch and short accurate casting, I like the Tatula regular or the R. or the T-3B.

For heavy cover heavy line applications I like the Lews Superduty.

for an all around reel the Chronarch E is a pretty good choice...

I would look for the discontinued diawa zillion. They can still be found under 200 dollars if you look. None of the reels mentioned so far even compare.

Honestly, you cant go wrong with any of them in the 100-200 range. Seems most companies have one or a few different models in that range and I personally would be happy with either one.

I have the 6.3:1 Primmus Xi coming.  $150.57 plus shipping.  $157.56 total, I believe.  5.9 oz.  May have to go out and skip a bait over the ice.  :teeth:

I feel your pain. Nothing feels like a lunker more than getting hung on a stick in a snow drift.

At Walmart.com you can get a pflueger patriarch for $150 or a daiwa tatula for $100, those would be the best reels at that price point.

New:

The Cuardo I is really nice.  The Tatula is nice but it may feel big in your hands dude, they do mine.

Used:

There are a ton of TD Zillions out there for $100-$150, add the price of a cleaning and Smooth Drag upgrade and I'd take one of these.

The Citica E used is $50-$75.  Add a bearing under the drive shaft ($3) and a Smooth Drag ($8).  Once this is done this reel is 98% of the performance of a Curado/Chronarch E.  And for the investment you could upgrade a few of your combos from those Silver Max's...

"Best" you'll get the typical BR replies about preference, which is true. If you ask "which is your favorite reel and why" you'll get better answers.

For me my favorite reel under $200 is the Shimano Chronarch 51e. It can almost do it all. I did a test on distance against a T3 1016 on casting distance with a senko and it only lost by 2-3 yards average. Very impressive considering the T3 1016 is consider the best caster. I use it to crank shad raps, 1.5's, to medium divers. It has more power than my Daiwa T3, steez, and SOL. It's small so Palming is great.

After flushing and reoiling the spool and side Plate bearings it was even better. The only thing about it is if you run 15lb mono then you'll run into line capacity issues.
