It isn't 1 size fits all, everybody metabolizes things we ingest differently.  I personally don't drink energy drinks, I've had them and a cup of coffee seems to work as well for me.  I drink close to a pot every morning, sitting heart 60 and b/p 110/68, pretty good for a 69 year old.  That doesn't mean I don't other medical problems (much of it from smoking, probably affects my energy more than anthing), very cautious with my diet, no sugar and low carbs.

I drink them for the taste basically idk. It doesn't keep me awake or anything or make my heart race. When I was in college I used to drink the sobe no fear or NOS as 4 pack a day and my passenger side of my car floor was covered in empty bottles of no doze. My caffeine intake used to be insane my heart should have exploded a long time ago. I used to drive from Hartford Connecticut to buffalo New York on the weekends to see me gf in college. Sunday's I would leave buffalo around 11pm drive to my dorm and be at class by 7am Monday. I would pound a case of red bull and a bottle of no doze on the drive and smoke a pack of cigarettes. Back then I was a twig 5'9" 130lbs probably from the insane caffeine intakes.

I'm gonna guess you've never worked midnights? I work midnight to 8am Sunday-Thursday. I've been working out enough and eating well enough to have lost 35 pounds in the last 3 months. I'm still exhausted most every night, especially right before work, and at about 0400. Sometimes, even with an energy drink it's all I can do to stay awake. I stick to the Monster Rehabs and Ultras, I don't have the buzz or crash that goes with regular strength energy drinks. At least there's a few good things in them, like B vitamins, pop is complete garbage in a can that offers nothing but empty calories. I like it when someone sees me drinking one and tells me it's going to kill me, while they're smoking a cigarette  :laugh5:  I only drink a couple of them a week on the really bad nights though.

Yeah, working midnights then fishing all day and staying awake for close to 30 hours every Thursday probably isn't the best idea but I can sleep when I'm dead right?

Exactly... must work because I think we placed in either top 3 or big bass every one we fished.  :respect-059:

I love Amp and Kickstart, but there is nothing like starting the day with 32 oz. of RedBull.

I drank a 5 hour energy before a wrestling tournament one day... Big mistake.

I got some really bad "intestinal distress" haha

Before my coffee days I used to drink Sobe Adrenaline Rush by the case, haven't had one of those in 10 years or so though.  Now I drink coffee by the gallon.

On fishing mornings I prefer drinking the Muscle Monster.  Non carbonated shake with protein, just a touch of caffeine and it fills me up for most of the morning.

Actually I did work 4pm -4am for 12 years and never had trouble staying awake. I guess I have been lucky enough to have a bunch of energy. I use to do endurance workouts back in my climbing & hiking days. When I took a break from those workouts, I noticed my energy decrease. I started back exercising and I felt energized again. So that's why I have that philosophy. Works for me.

Btw...congrats on dropping 35lbs!!!! Man that's awesome!!!

I drink three Monster Ultras a day.day. At least on days that I work. Otherwise I don't drink them. I prefer white cross ephederines. However, you cant find those down here anymore. Honestly I just like the taste of them.

if you look at who they market to, the easy answer is that kids/preteens/teens drink them.  i just don't understand how we limit/restrict/prohibit the use of nearly every drug on the planet EXCEPT caffeine...  how is that?

That's more like what our evening shift is, 1600-0000 (0400 if you work OT). I got tons of sleep on that shift and wasn't nearly as tired, I also never got to see my family or wife (girlfriend at the time). You're absolutely right about the exercising though, it helps a lot. When I start to get really tired at work I usually start doing pushups to help wake myself back up.

Thanks, doesn't feel like I've lost that much but the scale doesn't lie.

I tried a Monster Rehab once and I swear it about burned a hole in my stomach.  I am not a coffee fan at all and avoid soda's, so I was in search of a caffeine source to keep my @ss awake during the day (I have three little girls under the age of 4 and they never seem to need sleep).  I found Mio Energy and I have to say, this stuff is like drinking candy (plus the caffeine helps keep me from falling asleep at my desk).

I avoid energy drinks, coffee, soda with caffeine. In addition to being diuretics and contributing to things like kidney stones, there is a withdrawal factor when you stop using them. No thanks.

If I need something to jolt me up from being sleepy, I just turn on AC/DC's "Back In Black" or "Shook Me All Night Long".

Monster zero tastes so good! i like the blue , red, and white. But I did hear that they have a new orange can out i want to try.

The orange is really good too. If you like the Rehabs they just came out with a peach tea that taste great.

If I ever pull an all nighter (extremely rare) then I will drink a Mountain Dew and that's it. I never drink soda regularly... always water.

The best soda IMO is Mexican coca cola, like the kind that comes in a glass bottle. It's made with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup so its healthier and tastes way better, less watered down.

I NEVER drink anything remotely close to it - but while we're south of the border, we always have at least one a day.

If & when there may be a lull in the action - the guide will announce "time for Lucky Coke" and we'll all down one.

Sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't - But they Always taste good.

However I'm pretty sure the stuff will remove paint . . .
