robster80 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 picked up a Lamiglas excel 2 glass rod and aside from crankbaits what other techniques do u guys use a glass rod for? i figured topwAter but im also wondering if anyone throws buzzbaits or spinnerbaits on them sometimes? figured it would help with allowing the fish to take the bait without ripping it from its mouth. i like the rod it feels like it has a little more power than my powell diesel Quote
fisherrw Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 i use them for basically every thing!!! even football jigs if im running low on rods! my phenix x10 is great for everything exempt swimbaits and frogs Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 Specifically, Chatter baits, Spinner baits, & Lipless Baits in mostly open water (and not when ripping the bait out of the grass). Also most any treble hook bait. I'll switch between braid and mono depending on the application. A-Jay 1 Quote
robster80 Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 think im gonna pair the rod with a Tatula 6.3:1 Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted February 10, 2015 Super User Posted February 10, 2015 Glass rods are for moving baits. You should be fine using them for cranks, jerkbaits, traps, & topwaters. The secondary uses would be spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. I would NOT fish jigs, weightless plastics, texas rigs, carolina rigs or frogs on this rod. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 10, 2015 Super User Posted February 10, 2015 All treble hook lures. I think the tip is too soft for single hooks. I have a Lamiglas SR705R which is my primary rod for deep crankbaits. Quote
hatrix Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Any moving bait if you can get away with it. Quote
Robert Riley Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Treble hooks! I've used it for buzzbaits too, but I prefer my medium premier. Quote
